Well another weekend has come to an end, hope it was a good one for you.

As I said on Friday, I spent most of my time on my latest project, the N scale Galesburg/CB&Q modules. I spent most of afternoon on Google Earth and an N scale track template, #2 mechanical pencil, plastic eraser and a 1-inch = 1-foot square paper sheet. I'm old school, no computer here, not yet any way. So far I have about half the set up planned out with two large and one small industry accounted for. My fellow modeler will be down again in October so I need to finish the other modules next. Saturday was my soccer day and Jared's team won second in his tournament. Sunday I deviated a bit and did some model airplane flying then it was off to the storage unit to finish the legs on the modules. I got one set done, now to get the other set done later in the week.

So how about you? Did you get everything done you wished to get done? Let us know what you did. We'll all come back on Friday, October 3rd and start the the process all over again. Until then, have a happy and safe week and...

    High Greens!

I just plugged away and got my work done. I cut some Masonite and added a base and fascia to the liftoff bridge, and also to the edge of the old Phase 1 section of my layout where I never got around to fascia. I let that glue set up overnight, and then put on boulders, rock ledge and Gypsolite. I came up short on the Gypsolite, having forgotten to replenish my supply when I picked up a Tortoise for the tracks on the far side. I'll probably do some painting during the week, and save the serious scenery work for next week.

The bridge and track are still loosely set in place, since I'll have to remove them to do the scenery. I notched the underside of the foam and ran the track bus wire through before putting on the base.

For a while, I just ran trains. Now that I'm closer to having staging, I started thinking about the first train of the day. I put together a short local freight that will drop off a couple of stock cars at the packing plant, perhaps pick up a couple of empties, and drop the ice service reefer at the icing platform, before heading back across the bridge to pick up some milk.

Did not get the new window put in the train room. It drizzled and rained Friday morning. Contractor (obviously) did not want to "caulk" when conditions are wet, as well as it would have been unsafe to get on pitched roof while the shingles are wet.

Did make some progress on y Avrams project. Plus I got the brake rigging done on the Westerfield kit I'm working on.

Got the sidewalks carved, glued down, and painted. Got the back of the building finished and started ground cover on the back. I have to clean up the ground cover some... not happy w/ it.

No work this weekend as I had a bowling tournament in Thompson Falls, MT, about 300 miles from me. It was great for watching trains, a lot of BNSF and MRL traffic, and the best part was not seeing a single traffic light for almost 200 miles.

Last Friday I started putting some pine trees in trying to blend the backdrop into the hard shell scenery until I ran out of trees. I have more on order to complete the project. I think it should work fine when it is done. The first picture is a train coming out of hidden staging onto the main line, the second is the train going upgrade.

In the open area to the left in the second photo I am thinking about pitting a farm into the open area. Still waiting for ballast to come so I can finish ballasting a yard and engine facility to work on a town can start.

Well got nothing done in the train room again. But I did raid the local hobby shop and replenished some supplies. Getting ready for a long weekend this coming Saturday/Sunday where I will spend a lot of time working on the layout. Next stop the hardware store for more supplies. :)
