Well, as hard as we try to stop it or slow it down, another weekend is in the books. How did you do? My weekend was great, lots of train stuff. I was able to get that GP35 ready with a new decoder, a bit of cleaning and soon had it running flawlessly on the layout. I next programmed the old Atlas GP9 then turned my sights on a customers D&RGW GP30. I was able to get the pilots detailed and was working on the fans when I realized the time and had to switch gears. Back to layout work for me. Saturday was busy. Got up early, helped Angela get her booth set up, met with friends for breakfast, walked the train show for a few hours, had lunch with more friends, walked the train show some more then rushed home to finish getting ready for the operations session. Unfortunately, I did not have time to get any railfan activity in due to getting ready for the session. Soon it was off to the Mid State Prototype Modelers group first organized diner. We had a good time in Bement, even saw a few trains roll through. We met at my place around 7:30 and had four guys ready to run operations. Dave (Trainboard member PPUINN) is a seasoned veteran in operations, so I put him with buddy Brian who has done some operations while the other two guys, James and Darin, had never done operations before. I showed James and Darin how I make my switch lists and the logic of using cars based on industries as well as showing how their train was going to be set up for their session. Opperations Session 9.17.16 by Jim Wiggin posted Sep 19, 2016 at 7:17 AM Based on the reactions I got from everyone, we all had a good time and we now have two more guys into operations. We finished around 11:30. Next time we will do a Saturday afternoon run with pizza. Sunday, I just took it easy with some light reading on Ingelnooks plus did all the domestic duties one must do to prepare for the coming work week. All in all, a great weekend. So how about you? How did you do this weekend? let us know. We'll all come back again on Friday the 23rd. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and... High Greens!
Had a very good and productive weekend. I got the plastering done on my riverbed. Painted it a dark tan. And - started on the clean up and detail painting. Man - I had forgotten how messy plastering is!! Dang!! I also worked a bit more on my mission style church. Weathered it and cut out a new base for it. Hope ya'll had a great weekend, Wolf
It was a good weekend. Got the backdrop finished and painted for Albemarle City. Spent Saturday "dabbing" mountains. Sunday AM I got the clouds air-brushed. Also, Sunday afternoon, I spent time going through Chesapeake and Ohio evaluation maps of the Kanawha and Mountain Subdivisions, looking at track plans for various small city stations. I found two I like, Staunton, VA and Ashland, Ky. I think I can adapt some of each into the track plan. One decision I made was not to plan too much track, but to pull "snippets" of track in each major area from actual C&O installations, adapt them to my space, and then connect them together. Having spent that time, I feel good about getting plywood this week and getting it down for track work.
Found the missing pieces for a bench vise, worked on a resin structure kit and started adding a backdrop and building flats to my switching layout. Details over at Weaver Junction.
Well, I received more paint and decals from the first dealer that I ordered from. 002 by WPZephyrFan posted Sep 17, 2016 at 5:40 PM Unfortunately, right after I picked up my mail, the battery in my car died and the rest of the afternoon was spent getting a new battery. Sunday, a friend and I went to a car show and spent a very warm day looking at beautiful automobiles.
Some of my cars an a cheap little turntable. Classic British Cars in 1:76 scale made by Oxford. Turntable less than 6 € / 10 US $ from ebay. Only a testshot - will be part of a FREMO-modul for presentation of cars and planes.
I went to Illinois Railway Museum Saturday and Sunday. Had a fun time riding street cars, interurbans, rapid transit, steam powered train, and rode the Nebraska Zephyr. Found lot of historical society magazines. Dan
Just lasered a module-kit for use with the small turntables and screwed it together. The turntable kit is only inserted for testing - not fastened. First tests with cars and 2 planes. Modulkit is FREMO H0 USA - NAI = North American Industies. European FREMO - not the American FREE-MO
