We've done it again, we have gone through another weekend. How did you do? My weekend was busy! After working my last shift at SAMs, I came home and got rested then left for Tennessee early Saturday morning. Took us about 6 hours to head down that way and I saw a lot of former Illinois Central, now Canadian National rail fanning along the way. After picking up Jess's new body tub and a bunch of parts, we headed north and got in early Sunday morning around 2:00am. Sunday was spent putting Jess's body and parts away in my storage unit then spending the day on general yard and house work. Unfortunately I never did get any work done on my shop other than cleaning and replacing the windows. So how about you? Did you get any model railroad items crossed off your list? Let us know. We'll do it again on Friday the 16th. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and... High Greens!
Nothing done. Found I need some more supplies for installing decoders. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
It's not model railroading but it will lead to use in my modeling. I finally, FINALLY used an air brush for the first time. I had put it off for so long because..well, honestly, I was scared to try. Now, I am sorry for waiting for so long! Again, it's not model railroading related, it's the instrument panel for a Mitsubishi Zero kit that I'm building. I can't wait to get to painting trains!
Boxcab, what was frightening to me was getting the thinning mixture correct and the chance that I would ruin a perfectly good model. The control with an air brush is much better. If I had used a spray can, the dials would have disappeared.
What I usually do is a quick test on some similar material, from the scrap bin. Any fiddling done there first, reduces chance of an oops on the actual subject item(s). Or so I hope.
Major accomplishment! After weeks of doing basically nothing (since NTS), I actually went out, made sure the track was clean, and ran trains! Just the pleasure of having a couple of freights running, vs my usual passengers, and operating some of my less used equipment. And, having a mysterious full string derailment on a curve, after the same consist had travelled through there at least 10 times. About 10 cars on their side, with another 15 derailed. Very weird
Rick- Running trains! Yup, purty much what I had time for as well. Did solder some jumper wires from switch points to rails on a few switches in the yard, which made running trains much more fun. Ols atlas and life-like things that function, at least sorta. Then noticed a few boxeldr bugs crawling around the layout, womdered if maybe a large 'bug' didn't get under your train in that corner?
There were two huge daddy-long-leg spiders in that area when I first got started. Scooped them up and put them outside. Maybe I missed one
Well sorta.... Exact rail currently does a nice prototype model of the gunderson 6269 boxcar in IBT colors as did LBF a few years ago. These latest boxcars I custom painted and decalled are produced by Bachmann. Not the correct size as the prototype but esentially the only affordable alternative for a hi cube boxcar I could find to customize. Im not a rivet counter so they are passable for me. Heres some others I did last year using a couple LBF cars. Hope they dont look as funny. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/img-3280.16153/full Brian
