Another weekend is in the books, how did you do?

Not much accomplished model railroad wise here, but I did get some done. Saturday I had a loaded Jeep Cherokee, filled with model airplanes and headed for a local swap meet. The turnout was dismal at best, but I was able to sell a few models and items which helps the bank account and clears up space for trains and Jeeps. Saturday afternoon, the entire family went to downstate IL to a friends cabin to spend the night and get up early the next morning to take care of the leaves. That was an all day event of raking and burning brush and leaves. Great news came by e-mail however from a good friend and local historian of Galesburg IL. He sent me a track diagram of the area my joint project between my friend and I wish to model. Now between my photos I took a few weeks back, Google Earth, an old map and now his diagram, I finally have enough keys to the puzzle and can finish my track plan. Good thing too, because my buddy is westbound and down next weekend for a weekend of shows and track laying.

So how about you? How many have a show report on Trainfest? It looks like they had a great show. What about the rest of you? What did you get accomplished? Let us know! We'll be back on Friday the 14th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a safe and happy week and...

Not much for me. I'm dealing with the preamble to retirement, all the Social Security and Medicare stuff. What a complicated and convoluted mess.

I did pick up some stuff that was waiting at my LHS, goosneck building lights from my LHS. They are by Ngineering, and they must be assembled. They are more of an effort than I was looking for, but I'll get them done and hopefully they will be a nice addition. I masked and painted the first structure for the new addition to the layout - next step is mortaring.

That old train set that my friend asked me to look at has even less value than I thought. The identical set sold for $125 on eBay last Friday, but from the pictures that one was in better condition than his. Maybe I'll see if there's a dealer interested in it at one of the train shows over the next few weeks.

I went to a hobby show on Saturday, and picked up a Stewart hopper kit, a gaggle of boxcars, and a couple of switchers. One was a basic Athearn EMD switcher, and the other was a Model Power SW1, which runs rather well.

Lots of fun looking at the other hobbies, and I found out that there's a small aviation museum right here in Montreal.
