The calendar says "May" but my furnace says "March". While it was another cold and rainy weekend, it may have helped get some things done. Saturday was a complete bust. I had set out to finish up two D&H 50 foot boxcars, three B&M F7B units and start work on an ICG GP40, Rock Island GP9U and a Maine Central GP7 and a Alco S2. Not sure what was wrong but motivation was zero, combined with spending an hour trying to disassemble the Atlas S2 (Atlas had glued all the clear in the cab!), spilling a half bottle of decal solution and almost wrecking the Rock Island shell that was coming out so well. By 4:00 I sat down and realized I was not going to get everything done for Ohio I had hoped for. Frustration was so high that I shut down and went off to other things. Workshop May 9th, 2016 by Jim Wiggin posted May 9, 2016 at 7:14 AM Sunday for whatever weird reason, I was on fire. Got up, got cleaned up and started priming the GP40, GP9U and GP7. Painted the white on the ICG and Rock units, finished the decals on the B units and then relaxed with family. After family left, I shot the D&H boxcars with flat clear, assembled them then shot the orange on the ICG GP40 so that it is ready for decals tonight. I ended up getting more done in a few hours last night and morning than all of Saturday. No work on the modules but tonight I need to work on my new transport for them. Mothers Day was nice, three generations of Mums came to our humble abode and we enjoyed hamburgers on the grill, homemade potato salad and chocolate Lasagna for desert. If the sound of "Chocolate Lasagna" sounds, tasty, fantastic, immoral and illegal, it was/is. So how about you? What did you get done this past weekend? Let us know with an image or two. We'll be back here on Friday the 13th! Gasp, the 13th! Oh my... As a programming note, I'll be posting either Thursday night or early Friday morning as I'll be heading east with modules and I hope a bit of Custom paint for the Ohio N Scale Weekend. It should be fun and I'm really looking forward to it. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and... High Greens!
As noted elsewhere http://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=39035.msg475053#msg475053 this was the annual Conrail historical Society's Rail B Q weekend. General goonery began Friday night as Ed K hosted some informal running on his n scale York, PA layout: Josh S. showed off some of his Pennsy handiwork: And there was much Big Blue to be had: Saturday morning Ron Smith hosted a few of us on his Erie Lakawanna/Bath and Hammondsport n scale layout - which is a really nicely executed mix of mainline and switching in a small townhouse bedroom: then it was off to Newport, PA, where we discovered that 3 trombones can indeed replicate a Leslie 3 chime airhorn: Lots of NS action came by as well: So while I may not have built anything, it was a great railroady weekend none the less.
I added an NCE SB5 smart booster to my powercab system so that I can actually unplug my throttle and move it around to reach all sections of my layout.
Didn't get to much done, as I suspected. I was able to put in a few minutes on my interlock tower - and - I got a bit more ground cover on the layout. Wolf
Still wasn't able to get to dropping those feeders, but I did repair some wiring on my other layout. Ran some trains and played with sound.
