It seems like the weekends go faster than the work weeks. I have a theory that the weekend is made of only two days and the work week is made of five but your results may vary. With that said, it's time to see how we did this past weekend! I had a great weekend despite the return of winter. I had the heat running all weekend and the space heater in the work shop running almost the entire weekend. My friend from the great north arrived Friday night around 8:00 and once settled in, he wasted no time in getting ballast down on my modules. Ballast work by Jim Wiggin posted May 2, 2016 at 7:24 AM By Saturday morning around 1;30 am we decided to get some rest and start up again in a few hours. Butler Part Two by Jim Wiggin posted May 2, 2016 at 7:24 AM Saturday morning, while Bill worked on ballast, I worked on getting module two it's roads and concrete work done. It takes a long time to get those N scale 5-foot squares scribed in. We worked throughout the day and finished 90% of the ballast work before heading up north to fellow Trainboard member and moderator, Dave (PPUIN), to see his impressive N scale layout and get ideas on operations. We had a great time learning some techniques from Dave and some fellow modelers and discussed the City Job before heading back down to Central Illinois. Grass work by Jim Wiggin posted May 2, 2016 at 7:24 AM Burlington truck by Jim Wiggin posted May 2, 2016 at 7:24 AM Track Warrant by Jim Wiggin posted May 2, 2016 at 7:24 AM Bill showed me the ways of static grass application and I think I'm hooked! We covered module three and part of module one before it was time for him to go back up north and like that, our weekend was over. It was a great weekend and now both of us are that much closer to some goals for the Ohio N Scale Weekend in just two weeks. Now time to change gears and get some painting done. I need more time captain! So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend. Did miserable weather keep you focused on your layout or modules, or did you go a stray? let us know, with an image or two if you have them. We'll come back here on Friday, May 6th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and... High Greens!
I didn't do any modeling but I did do some rearranging of my work area this weekend. I've wanted to photograph some of my collection which have been in boxes while I work on my layout. I have a small collection of Japanese prototype trains, both steam and electric and several Shinkansen: 007 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:30 PM 001 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:28 PM 009 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:31 PM Foreign road power: 012 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:25 PM Inside Gateway power: 011 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:26 PM And, finally, my Western Pacific locos: 015 by WPZephyrFan posted May 1, 2016 at 4:22 PM
well it was my birthday Sunday . . . . no new trains, but a new (to me) router, router table, paint spray respirator and a really cool machined key holder (called KeySmart; I love me some EDC gadgets) were great additions to the mix. I also started tracking the wiring for new lights in the basement around the train space . . . . and got my fishing rods up closer to the ceiling . . . .
Didn't get those feeders dropped, but put a serious cleaning and organizing on my workshop and basement. While that was going on I test ran some new rolling stock, then later started finalizing the designs for a couple of scratchbuilt buildings I need.
A little late on this. (Been sick the past couple of days) --- I received and installed my new portable A/C unit. What a difference it makes. I have put down some "dirt". Feels good to finally get some scenery done. Regards, Wolf
