Well another weekend is behind us, judging by the replies to Friday, I'd say a lot of non-railroad activity has set in as we approach the summer time.

Not so for me, it was a busy, last big push before going to one of my favorite shows of the year, Galesburg RR Days.

I finally finished gluing down all that styrene sheet, scribing it into 5' blocks, using Durham's Water Putty to carefully fill in between the rails and finally paint the concrete. That alone took up most of the weekend. I ran out of paint so I'll need to order up some more so I can get the road painted next. I still have a ways to go on this complex but the biggest and most time consuming aspect should be behind me.

Then late last night, I removed all the switch machine buttons and DCC plate and painted the fascia board. It certainly gives a nice finished appearance. My fellow partner in crime, picked out the color and sent me a text Friday on the color code which was easy enough for my local Menards to whip up. Will it match? I guess we'll find out on Friday!

So while the layout has a more finished appearance, I still need to populate the layout with buildings but I won't get that done before Friday. I also got more work done on the carrier for the modules which I hope to finish tonight. I worked on Jess too as the future Mrs. would like to drive the the Wrangler up north without a hard top. All in all a busy and productive weekend.

So how about you? Did you venture into the train room this weekend? Did you have a good Fathers Day? Tell us what you did. Now a programming note: This Friday's WMP thread may be late or delayed. Why? That show I speak of, Galesburg RR Days is this week. I'm packing the Cherokee Wednesday night in preparation to leave at 0-Dark-30 on Thursday. Like in years past, Brian and I will railfan the Transcon from Toluca to Galesburg. I'll be setting up camp, yes no hotels this year, on Thursday afternoon. Friday the thread will be uploaded (Hopefully) at the campground from my iPad. It will be quick and it will be simple but it might have some locomotive images in it. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Nice looking modules. Clean as pin.
Yes. I ventured into the train room. Saturday and Sunday. Got wrapped on the peninsula as well as started in the far corner with what will be the mine run/coal branch.

A bit late for the weekend thread but here goes. Managed to get a little closer to being finished to this crane tender, for the D&RGW crane 028. I think this car started as an all purpose 89' flat and evolved from there into this. I have scratch build some spreader bars for the hoist too, but they are not finished. The slots under the car is for wooden cribbing for the crane outriggers. Built it bases on the photo attached. There are oxy/acetylene bottles extra truck/wheels, and some extra drawbars. A bunch more details to add, and a little weathering, as this car has seen little use.And thats a good thing.
