Well it's here, another favorite month of mine - June! For some strange reason however, it doesn't feel like June. Maybe because the heater is on in my shop again. Weird weather not withstanding, lets see how you did.

Friday was a trying day after receiving the news about my modules but after a Saturday of watching Jared's team place 1st in their class of soccer AND doing some railfaning, yes the field was right next to the Norfolk Southern right of way, I started to think of the modules. Saturday afternoon, I studied the photograph and the layout and realized the changes would not only be easier than what I first thought, but would give me more switching opportunities when finished. How great is that? Out came the paint scraper and with patience and care, all the track and turnouts came up with no damage to the track. That is good since those code 55 turnouts are so darn delicate. By Sunday I had all the offending pieces off modules 2 and 3. I started to lay the roadbed for the "main" that bridges modules 2 & 3 last night. I'm excited about the work again and the upcoming date is keeping me focused. You can see the changes on my Galesburg City Job Facebook page as updates will probably be close to daily.I also worked on the GP38's working on the number boards which unfortunately took all day Saturday! These number boards are the bane of my existence right now and I have no idea why they are so hard as this isn't my first rodeo. Sunday was a cold, March like day here in Illinois so between the modules and the GP38's as well as some quality time with Angela, not much else was done.

So how about you? Did you finish any projects? Any train shows to speak of? Let us know! We'll assemble here on Friday, June 5th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a safe week and...

    High Greens!

I actually got something done on the layout, after a couple of weeks of not touching it. This scenic cover for the staging tracks has been a slow-starting project, for sure. I've been uncertain about its design, and I don't really know what I want the finished project to look like, either. Now, though, I've got the basic cover built and supported, and I can play with some cardstock mock-up buildings and foam scraps for land forms.

Started assembling some N scale couplers, but even with the jig, it was frustrating. So I did some searching on the 'Net for information, and actually found some of it. Helpful for my HOn30 rolling stock numbering scheme.

More of a ham radio weekend for me (bought more toys...), but I did get some train time in. The weirdest incident was my Spectrum 44-tonner lost both wheels on one side of one truck. Just like that. I put the thing back together, and it ran fine after that.

    Go figure.

Not exactly modeling, sort of. Destruction of another layout continues apace. Jim

Got more "priming" done in the layout room. That's about it for this past weekend.
