Another weekend has passed. Did you get everything done you had set out to do?

While work took up most of my Saturday and Sunday, I had Friday off and was able to get some work done in the shop. I spent the majority of my day at the computer designing decal art work for a customers locomotive. With any luck, I'll be able to get the the prototype pictures today after work and get the art work off to the printer. I also was able to get the the paint stripped of a Kato NW-2 I purchased at the Ohio N Scale Meet this past May. The Galesburg City Job is currently with out a switcher so this NW-2 will fit nicely. With the paint stripped off, I sprayed the Gray and will mask and spray the black soon. Not a bad for just one day.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll all come back here on Friday the 24th and do it all over again. Until then, have a happy and safe week and as always...

    High Greens!

My vacation got off to a great start at the Seaway Train Show. As usual at this event, I wasn't disappointed.

Before I even walked in, there was an interesting coincidence.o_O

What are the odds that as I get out of the car, I meet another model railroader who's also a ham radio operator, and drives a Crown Victoria? They're not quite zero. A shiny black '01 police interceptor that made an awesome sound rumbled in. After exchanging on ham radio and cars, we went on to the important stuff - trains!

I picked up some freight car kits (good for rainy days, blizzards or just too hot outside) and an Atlas GP38 that will get a nice Burdakin blue instead of BN green... One of the kits is a wood kit of an auto rack. I figured for $6, it's not a great loss if I screw it up.

I bought two caps - one that reads "I need more toy trains", never an invalid statement, and the other "The older I get, the better I was" :D

I musn't forget the cool t-shirt with a pair of TH&B GP7s on the front.

I was actually able to get quite a bit done this weekend (if you include Thursday evening).

To start, I finally installed 3 more ground throws, including a tricky one. So all of the main line throws are installed, and just have the industries and yard left to do. Feels good.

I also installed my auto reverse loop module and tested/tweaked that. One of my longer locomotives still has issues, but I'm hoping to figure that out soon.

Finally, I worked on my Central Gas & Supply kit. It's largely done aside from decals and weathering. I'm going to get a thin piece of sheet styrene to put everything together on, including the pipes, since the layout isn't quite ready for it yet.

And finally, a shot of my yard / loco facility:

I accomplished absolutely nothing on the model railroad. We are in the midst of some major renovations to the house and my workbench is unusable because it is piled high with tools and various items for different remodeling projects. I did manage a bit of time in the train room to do some switching a few days ago, but for the time being, model railroading is off of the agenda.

I did manage to finish grouting the backsplash in the kitchen. A happy wife means a happy life.
