Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a good weekend. Let's dig in and see what we accomplished.

Friday: Once I had started the WMP thread here on Friday, I cleaned up and made myself a big breakfast, ensuring I would not have to stop for lunch. It was nice to be working in the garage again and the project was nearly finished when the wife got home. I fired up the grill and made burgers for dinner before retiring for the night.

Saturday: As promised to my wife, I went with her first thing to Costco. The part for the Falcon did not come in so no trip up north. The biweekly trip for supplies and food cost me a new office chair but the old one was hurting my back. I then returned the shopping favor by stopping at Menards and picking up paint for the module stand I was working on. Once home, work commenced on the module stand and by 9:00 that night it was done with the exception of paint and corner trim. It was too hot and muggy to paint outside so I threw in the towel for this weekend.

Sunday: Ang and slept in and then got ready to go to the Third Sunday Market. We go once a month in the summer months to find all sorts of farmer market and antiques and this week did not disappoint. With in the first half hour, I spotted an almost pristine Cox models gas powered Pipe Super Cub in Airforce CAP trim. I had never seen one of these in this pristine of shape, so I instantly bought it. This model is from the late 1950s to early 1960s. For those under 50 in the room, Cox used to make plastic model control line planes with little .049 engines. I grew up with these and flew the heck out of them. Sadly, Cox and these cool plastic planes are no longer made so finding one of these vintages was a huge score for me. Ang did well too as she added to her collection. I later found a vintage refurbished fan I have been looking for and Ang found a vintage wood display we ended up buying. After shoehorning it into the car we headed home, unloaded it and I finished the storm window project and called it a day. Somehow the three-day weekend went faster than your typical Monday.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll return on Friday the 21st to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

As expected, no model railroading this weekend, but made a lot of progress unpacking and knocked out some yard work projects. My small boat was supposed to arrive yesterday (was in storage in TX for 3 years while I was in Japan) but got delayed. Should arrive today. So the oil change I thought I would have done already will happen next weekend.

But progress is progress and the sooner the house is settled and boat is fixed up, the sooner I can get back to trains.

    Good mornin to Y'all,

Well -- the package that I "thought" contained the detail parts for my DL600B (RSD15) project was another batch of detail parts. (Not related to said DL500B project) -- bummer. That'll teach me to read the ship from address - LOL.

So, I did continue with the Alligators. Just the insides. Finished up installing the LEDS. Programming them. Cleaning up and a bit more prep work on the outsides.

Visited with my father and sister in Austria (Via Whats-App)
Then my cousin came by for a visit. And, gave us a Coleman grill. Very cool!!

    Y'all have a great week,
    Wolf

Hello and Happy Monday. Walking around w/ my coffee Saturday AM I stumbled on the control panel faces I received about 3 weeks ago. So, I figured I've gone long enough "man handling" operations without them. Wired up one of them Saturday and Sunday, built the back box, tested it out on the work bench. This week I should be able to paint the back box black and mount it on the layout.

Have a great week all and stay cool!!

    Good morning all,

The weather was hot here his weekend so the A/C in the train room got some use. The visits on both Friday and Saturday went very well. Got to show off the layout to two friends who had not seen it before. Worked on plans for controls and control panels for a very large layout the Saturday visitor is building. On Sunday replaced a burned-out decoder in one of the engines the Friday visitor left. It had been a while since there has been foreign power running on the layout.

Cox airplane! Cool! Gotta' take care of the boat. (y) Gave a Coleman grill. Cool. Sharp control panel. ;) B&O power! :) Got myself up early and completed making air reservoirs and cross-compound air compressors. (y) Hopefully they will install without problems. :cautious: Yesterday I prepped drawings for laser cutting the cab sides. (y) Hopefully they will cut without problems. :cautious: Running board will be made and added later. Hopefully without problems. :cautious: Today feels like Friday. (Why is the rum gone?) All have a good week. :D

Saturday my wife had a dentist appointment and afterward we went out for breakfast. Then we did our running, Amazon returns at Kohl’s, down to Delaware to get gas, and then the nursey/produce store. We got home and my wife had to pack up a couple of items she sold online. I was able to tune and inventory some rolling stock.

Sunday we ran to Target to pick up some bins. I needed a couple for some rolling stock and we both needed some for our cold weather clothing. With June being such an up and down month with the temperatures we are just getting around to storing our heavier clothing. We also stopped at the grocery store where I promptly forgot half of what we needed. My stupid and rude people tolerance meter surpassed its limit, so I hit the point where I just wanted to get out of the store. Once home I put my clothing in the bins and took them up to the attic. Later I reorganized my 50-foot steel boxcars into three categories; sliding door, plug door, and double door. I then stored them in bins accordingly.

    Howdy All,

I ended up spending most of the weekend replacing light fixtures in the kitchen, but did manage a bit of time on the airbrush. A little more progress on the W&NW cars. I found a photo of a CNW yellow plug-door boxcar and have been trying to mimic the coloring from that photo. A little more grime here and there, and we'll call these done.

Messed around with my new rechargeable airbrush and slowly getting the hang of the little critter.

Painted a "non-recyclables" sign on my mini-trash can just for the heck of it (and practice). Not too hot, but not bad either considering this is the first time I've wielded the thing with actual paint in it.

I have an FB2 shell that got totally ruined, during the pandemic, when I attempted to paint that in CN green and yellow. The green paint was sputtering out and made a total mess out of the thing. One idea I've had is to mess it up some more - intentionally this time - so it looks like it had a fire, then park the shell somewhere near the engine house. I have dark grey for soot, and some brown. Maybe pull out some of the water-based craft paint I have. The bigger the mess, the better. Lemonade out of lemons! :)

I have some more ideas swirling about my brain (that's where the real mess is) for that one and will let inspiration guide me after that.

Weekend pretty much went as planned.

Friday: Trip to the hardware store for parts became two trips. Between those two were some needed groceries to buy. So, I didn't get the honeycomb back in the laser enclosure until...

    Saturday: And here it is.

Had the pleasant interruption of an unplanned chat with our daughter around midday. Then I turned my attention to the loco I painted earlier in the week. First time using Vallejo acrylic paints for a relatively important result. I got a few parts back on or in the boiler before setting it aside.

I am happy with the coverage and preservation of detail. The paint was still a little soft after three days of curing. I need to tinker with the thinning and flow improver ratios to see if I can find the right mix.

Sunday: Picked our son up about 9:15 and headed for some breakfast. Then on to SeaTac Airport. The drive was slow for a Sunday. The express lanes were closed in both directions for maintenance. The result was traffic in both directions being snarled. The navigator originally routed us on 405 to avoid the congestion. By the time we got to the junction there were two accidents on 405 and we remained on I-5. Hope the accidents were minor. In any case he was on time for his flight. Sharon and I took the opportunity to do some shopping nearby. Traffic going home was much better. By the time we got back it was time for dinner and the weekend was over.

    Stay safe,

Only two more weeks until football pre-season starts. Where did those months go? Scanned more of my train order collection. My HOn30 order arrived from Shapeways. Four more log cars and a hopper, plus more truck frames. Unpacked and began getting that work done. Maybe, just maybe by next weekend, painting a few will be possible. This weekend flew by at incredible speed!

A little late to the party this week, late Friday I got a call from my old company where I retired from and they asked if I could come in and help them with accounting work for a couple of months, so I missed replying to this thread on Monday.

Over the weekend, I managed to install the running board supports on a Walthers Covered Hopper kit and painted it for decaling. Finished the Tangent Sam Rea Shops 4600CF Covered Hopper kit and painted it also along with building a Tichy Panel Side Coal Hopper and a Red Caboose X29 Boxcar kit.

On Saturday, we had the club open for the Cuyahoga County 4H Train Club and they really liked the layout, much to our surprise they wished to see steam power, but we had figured modern stuff and that is what we brought to run on the layout.

Below are pictures of the end cages on the Sam Rae Covered Hopper car.
