Well we made it through the last weekend of January, how did you all do? My weekend was productive as I started it by firing up the shop compressor and getting to work. By noon I had two fantasy BNSF CB&Q Heritage locomotives masked, painted and ready for decals. One Blackbird and one Redbird. I also tied up a few loose ends in the shop before grabbing some lunch and heading north to Dave's layout. The drive up is about two hours but it is an enjoyable one, leaving me time to think of all the projects I have lined up. Dave had a full house and soon assigned me to the Peoria BN yard switching job. Hey that's appropriate! It took me a few hours to get the various industries switched out but it was a fun small part of his large layout. The drive home was nice and quiet and full of reflection on what I wanted to get done the following day. Sunday, I slept in, had plenty of tea and worked with Angela on finding suitable homes in NH. Around mid morning I finally started a project I proposed to my small group of prototype modelers. I started the Mid-State Prototype Group last summer as a special interest group for guys in my area who model all scales but are more into prototype operations and modeling. Last fall I started an Inglenook project and had three guys including myself sign up. We are using the T-Kits three foot wide, deep T-Trak module as the basis for the Inglenook. In between assembly and glue joints drying, I worked on my switch lists for next months operations session. By dinner, my Inglenook module base was built. Next weekend, I'll finish sand it, apply stain and clear and start drawing out my track arrangement. The jury is still out as to what road and era this will be. With the Illinois connection on my modules, I will probably model a north east road. Hmm, 1970's Boston and Maine, or Maine Central? Maybe modern Vermont Rail? All in all, a great weekend that went by way too fast, but then again, don't they always? So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know with an image or two if you have them. We'll come back on Friday, February 3rd and start up another weekend thread. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and of course... High Greens!
I had a very productive weekend. The road signs are just about done in industrial Saticoy. Weathering and detailing of the roads has begun (Still have more grade crossing planks to do). Next will be power poles and work one the industries parking lots and the structures themselves. Thanks, and hope ya'll had an awesome weekend!! Wolf
Got some painting done on my KCS SW1500: Also started decoderizing. Best write up I"ve seen so far on DCC in these diminutive bad boys is this one: http://conrail1285.com/dcc-installation-in-micro-trains-sw1500s/
I had started milling the frames in my two DRG&W PA1s last weekend. This weekend, I was able to get two ESU LokSound Select Micro decoders installed, and matched up with a PB unit to form a consist for my California Zephyr.
I got a rock, but seeing this N scale beauty was fun! Love the scenery to track ratio. Thats what N scale is all about.
Did some serious cleanup in the basement where the chainsaw roundy-round is. Also started to construct a mobile home from cardstock. I worked with card when I was young (too long ago), so this is like learning all over again. So far, so good, but I'm taking it slow and we'll see if it makes it to the layout or if I call it a good first practice.
I spent most of last week recovering from a hacked Yahoo e mail account. I had issues accessing TrainBoard as well. Many thanks to Eagle2 for the help! It's good to be back!
As I posted in my DPM Freight House Build thread in HO section: Am now doing the tedious job of cutting and adding rafter ends under the soffit. Roof is only temporarily tacked on until after final painting is done.
Was in LA all last week and got home Saturday. Not much got done. However, Sunday I did manage to get one of my reversing loops re-installed and operating. Had to fix the radius. Ran a very lone passenger train through it w/ 85' coaches and they came through numerous times without a hitch. Some great pictures above. Good work all.
