Brrr! Looks and feels like winter is here. Hope the cold and weather allowed you to get some stuff done this weekend.

My weekends start on Friday now so I after posting here it was off to the shop. I finished up the primer and applied the paint to the first GP10 then turned my attention to the second Geep. The second Geep is modeled after Illinois Central's first Paducah rebuild so it looks a bit different than the more common Geeps. By Sunday I had two Paducah rebuilds on the work bench.

I didn't really get anything done on the layout this weekend as Angela's car had other ideas. For as new as her car is, it sure has a lot of problems. I also wanted to get the Paducahs done as the shop is getting stacked with orders. Other than that, pretty much just a lot of building and painting of locomotives.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know with a picture if you have one or more. We'll assemble once again on Friday the 15th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a good week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

We'll miss you Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie).

Did the disassembly and drilled/tapped two holes at top front for elec pickup wires.
Then built up shelves for under layout storage, after that was kids here and such.....

My new Bachmann NW-2 arrived, so I let it run for a couple of hours to break it in. Other than that, not much happened.

Built workbench in its new location, got a HCD and Masonite, working on drilling holes in the ceiling joists for running wires and the TV cable. Never let the cable guy run cable unattended, or plan on redoing it yourself.

Friday I was able to weather a couple of cars, replace couplers from hook horn type to kadee #5, and changed wheels from plastic to metal. Had a flat car that only needed new wheels. Easy change there.

Saturday was a lazy day due to work. When I got home I glued down some cork roadbed then hit the sack. Sunday started fresh. My son was given the task of playing with plaster while I glued some track down. I soon joined him. We were able to attach a couple of rock castings to the new mountain. I also used some sparkle that I had to start covering the plaster cloth. Next week we will continue. We had a small area above the narrow gauge line that I put plaster cloth on. We used a small amount of plaster to cover that area.

Today I continued laying track. I first made three cuts with a dremel so that I can get the swing level to work. I have one spot that needs help. The track stayed in alignment until I cut through the sub roadbed. It was a weird cut. A curved piece on an angle. I will try something else there.

Then it was onto my staging yard. Sunday night I was able to glue down the remaining switched and today I now have a staging yard. With my self imposed schedule I should have it wired and usable in two weeks. Tuesday I need to start working on my taxes

Only track work left after this is a spot where I want a small trestle and the round house area as well as a small industrial spur that I am currently redesigning.

The photo angle makes your staging yard look quite large. This certainly should allow quite a bit of flexibility in activities!

Yes, it is a total of 12 feet in length. So a couple of tracks on the outside are the longest of the seven. Lots of flexibility. Looking at adding a couple of cars to my double stack.

    Hey Jim,
Nice Paducah's! Being an ICG fan, I look forward to their completion. Any chance you are keeping a detailed list of your parts, paints and decals? I might like to acquire said list at some point - these would be time period anachronisms on my layout, but I do have a sizable IC/ICG presence to feed . . . . and the Paducah builts are truly ICG like little else.

Thanks Philip! Right now, no not a list per say. It's taken me a while but using a combination of parts and lots of time filing and sanding. These are for a customer and are what I call "Runners" meaning just enough detail so you can tell what they are. I plan to do a few more in the full blown detail with lift rings, grab irons etc soon. Feel free to keep posted on my Wiggin Locomotive Facebook page if your social media minded. I up date the page frequently with customers projects and list some for sale as well.
