We're back and hopefully you all had a great weekend. Let's see how we did.

Saturday: Weather wise, was more cold and rain so staying indoors was not a problem. I left for my "not so local hobby shop" with track plans in hand. The shop was the hot spot this weekend as I met up up with two of my friends and we conducted a fair amount of Bull Session. With my turnouts for the B&M layout in hand, I set off for home. Once home, I started by sanding the two new modules and prepped them for track work. I was able to get the mainline roadbed down before calling it a night.

Sunday: The domestic duty of grocery shopping hurt my progress, despite getting up early. Despite this I was able to fix the fans on on a customer's GP30 that is in the shop for repair and got it ready for paint. I ended the day by getting the main wiring down for the second module and will start laying track tonight.

So how about you? How did you do this past weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble here again on March 2nd to start the ball rolling once again. Until then, have a safe week and of course...

    High Greens!

Made some good progress on my F-7's. To finish them up, I need to add the side grills and windscreen/rear view mirrors. A little bit of weathering.

Post-divorce, I recovered the last of my workbench and supplies. (I hope.) Have the workbench set up now. Trying to sort through everything and get it all back to where I can do some model railroading again!

I have as the saying goes been there and done that. My trains were an immense help in getting through that change in my life. Hopefully they will be for you as well.

Wry good weekend for me. I had an extra long weekend this week starting on Thursday.

Thursday my daughter had a dentist appointment so she helped me out most of the day. A quick visit to my LCH for some supplies and the biweekly shopping completed I picked up where I left off Tuesday where I had finished the ballasting. So I went ahead and finished the ground foam and static grass. I the mountain drop in n place then finished the small area in front of it. I began planting trees. When I was done I had planted one of the two boxes of trees that I made up over the past two months. I gotta say it looks cool. I was finally able to find three of the BLMA crossings I need and ordered them. Looks like I need at least two more. My planes fire and rescue area is now finished. Yes I had to have a little Disney on my layout.

Friday I continued and started putting up fine details. I got some chain link fencing up around the tank farm and realized I could use one more kit. Setting the packaging aside I went to work on the coal load out area. The conveyor I had been waiting on to add the legs to it for when I finished the area. My wife decided to get the flu and bronchitis this week so I had to stop and take her to the Dr. Upon my return I pulled a few kits out and started to build some mock ups so I could figure out placement on the next section of layout to be worked on. I then hit the Walthers sight and ordered two more structure kits and some one fencing kit.

Saturday with my wife down for the count I started building my merchants row 1 kit. Part way through I realized I should of painted it so I stopped and found all my painting stuff. My daughter chose the paints for it so I headed to Walmart for some new acrylic paint. With her help I completed the paint job and built the second kit I had pulled out. Vic barbershop. I made a couple changes to that kit. I ended the day playing with decals and signs.

Sunday wasn’t as productive but after going through my box of figures I was able to get my son to start painting some I had never finished. While he did that I found some that would work on my new structure. I added people, bicycles (had to finish those up my self), decaled my oil tanks, then went to work on the asphalt kit. I’ve come up with a solution. I need to order more stuff from Walthers now so I can get my small town looking good. I added a few figures to the forest. Three ladies have decided to go on a short day hike and in another part of the forest three friends are on a backpacking trip. Here’s the pics!

Today- Monday continues my weekend. So I decided to build a station kit I have. It is the first time I’ve built a Walthers Trainline kit. It was simple enough and reminded me of an atlas kit. It will work nicely in my small town.[IMG]

Nothing like a busy station. I have two more that need peopling. This one is actually replacing an old scratch built one my dad made in the early 70’s out of card stock. [IMG]

That card stock version is a family heirloom. Must be kept safe!

Went through that a loooong time ago in a galaxy far away. You'll do modeling again.

Well... this weekend, I didn't get all I wanted but I did map out the wiring on the rest of the Albemarle Division, got terminal blocks positioned, and got bus run. Using #12 stranded for bus between terminal blocks and #20awg solid for feeders to track. Also put in green/yellow stranded ground conductor bus to use for the + common connection between the Digitrax UP5 panels. I had some wiring put in so I could run trains on the portion of track I had down. I managed to sort that out and re-route bus to match up the power blocks for the PM42 breaker board. Felt like I could have gotten more done, but between folks coming over for dinner Saturday and then college basketball late yesterday..... well, stuff happens.

    Happy modeling all!

Started on an office for the Playa Desnuda Shell oil depot.

Saturday, got a Micro Trains Box Factory laser cut kit as a gift in the mail from a very goog friend.

Sunday, shot it with clear coat to seal it

Tonight I shot the walls of the office satin white and trim gloss tool red. All vintage color pictures of shell stations have this same, basic color schemes, and very little yellow.

Kevin, your a good dad including your kids in work on your layout!!! The layout looks great. When did you start your layout and do you have a drawing of it?

Joe I started building this in 2013. This photo is a bit dated because I have made a couple changes since I drew this. My laptop crashed last year and it had digital copies of my plans. I at least have a couple hard copies left. One change is the upper left hand corner. The round house moved out to the edge and the main line now runs closer to the inside edge. It also does t show my staging yard that extends from the lower right hand corner. That is a mobile staging yard on three carts that attach to each other. [IMG]

Kevin, nice layout drawing!!! I particularly like the opinion of a point to point or continuous run. That adds variety to the layout. How thick is your foam going to be at track level? I like to use 1/2 inch blue and 3/4 inch pink foam on my N scale layout.

This is a photo of module 05 of 11.

I used 1” foam. Except in one area where I used two layers of 2” foam (the peninsula). This layout has a point to point feel, as well as a swing level across the doorway to make it a continuous loop. I will be able to start and end in staging as well.
