The last weekend of 2014 is over. Wow, hard to believe that 2014 is about to be a speck in our rear view mirror! Did you accomplish anything in that time?

Saturday, I worked from 9:00 to 2:00 and on the way out of work received a text from Angela explaining that Christmas was not quite finished. Agh! So my Saturday afternoon was spent doing Christmas but hopefully for the last time in 2014. Fortunately, my recently ordered MTH 2014 Christmas box car, a tradition I have kept going for 17 years now, came in and I had enough time to add it to this years Christmas train. It was a small gathering and a good time was had by all. Sunday I slept in and by afternoon I was working on my modules in between catching an episode here and there of "Dr. Who" on BBC America. I was able to finish all the track work on module one and get all the drops soldered. A test of my locomotive later that night proved that everything was in great working order. I still need to ad the Tam Valley Frog Juicers and the two turnout controls, but may do that after the track is laid on modules 2 and 3.

So how about you? Did you get any shop time this last weekend of 2014? If you did, let us know what you did! Will come back on Friday the 2nd of January 2015, yes, 2015! At that point, we'll start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week and remaining 2014 and...

    Happy New Year!

    High Greens!

Finally I am getting to the point where the streets can be put in in the town of Logan. I am using cheapie styrene "for sale" type signs available in hardware stores. These will be put down with contact cement on the surface of the layout. I used a piece of scrap t do a test piece of street. This is how it came out.

May not be the best, but this is what I am going to go with. I have painted a number of the signs and are letting them dry. I don't want to ruch this and screw it up. It will be a bit of a jig saw puzzle, but should work. I have never tried anything like this before so I guess it is a bit of an experiment.

Really didn't get to do much over the holiday, much of it was spent out of town. I did replace several standard rail joiners with Walthers/Shinohara joiners that simulate joint bars. Looks much, much better. I also started construction more cardboard trays to hold cars in the storage racks.

I'm off rest of week after Tuesday, so I'll get busy then. I still have a few feeders to add on the existing section, as well as just a couple feet more of rail on the coal dump track and then that will be all done. I should be able to have a nice update for the 2014-15 Winter Layout Party thread by the end of the week.

Ooops, almost forgot it was Monday. I'd be off anyway for the week, but now that I'm retired these days of the week have little meaning, and will have even less once football season ends.

I did spend some time working on a structure. It's slow going at this point, painting window sills and roof caps, and adding a few decals. I came up short one window. This is a Cornerstone Modular structure, and I mixed-and-matched parts I had left over from other such kits. The missing window will be on the back and won't be seen. Perhaps I'll just brick it up.

I ran some trains, too, something I haven't done enough of lately.

    Happy New Year to everyone!
