Phew! Halfway through the Christmas Season. How are you holding up?

We'll I got nothing done except the track down around the tree for the Christmas train. Saturday Jared had home coming and with getting dressed up, pictures and all, that pretty much took up a lot of the day. The second adventure was that of a Christmas tree and we are traditional so no fake one is going to work. Finding a Christmas tree to cut and bring home took two days in an epic journey that made me feel like a cross between Indiana Jones and Chevy Chase. Tree is in, track is down and that is all that got done this weekend.

So how about you? Any luck? Let us know. We'll all come back here on Friday the 18th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Made a bit of progress on my upper valence. Nothing like wood working without plans or drawings!! Yeah - I'm a nut. But, it's coming along nicely.

    Thanks,

Saturday was a rather productive day for the layout. A friend came over and we started some scenery on the layout.

First, we carved out the pond and added plaster strips to it. Next up will be painting it, which will be brown on the bottom, then blue around the edges. There's also going to be a swimming area, so that will be sand-color. I need to find some figures and such before I can pour the water also.

We also started some hills in the two other corners of the layout. One of them was made from the cutouts of the pond. It's also been plastered and is awaiting paint.

After those were done, we fixed up some roads (and added some more). Those are ready for sanding and painting also.

Having someone that's been in the hobby for a while really helped. I was able to learn some new tricks by seeing what he was doing. Hopefully this week/end I can get things painted :).

Well the carts have their cork on them, bus wires, and the UP5 has been wired. Had a small wiring issue but got it figured out. I pulled some flex track out and laid on the carts as well as the switches. Now to tie the staging yard and the swing level into each other and woo hoo track work will almost be done.
Also worked on my wife's Lionel train. It like to jump track. She has a hogwarts express and the lead truck keeps jumping track. I added 1 oz of weight. Helped but still jumps.

    Also great Christmas concert Saturday.

Check to ensure that the pilot truck wheels are in gauge. Sounds like they may be a bit wide.

I will double check that. When I looked the other night the wheels fit between the rail with a little bit of slack movement. I have noticed that they are a longer truck than others. Also the loco seems a bit top heavy. When it goes around the curves it tips a little which raises the front two wheels in the lead truck up a little.

Also, this is O gauge track, not O-27?

It's the three rail that comes in the sets. 36" curves

Retrucked the PFE ice bunker train with new Kadee 500 Bettendorf trucks. All fifty cars in a afternoon.
Now what to do with the Bowser trucks the Kadee's replaced.
