I must start this thread with an apology. I completely missed the Friday Weekend Modeling Plans because we were in the midst of packing and never in a good area to get the iPad online. It's been a while since last missing the thread but regardless, sorry bout that!

Onward! I'm sure you all still had plans despite the lack of on-line, digital inspiration.

We were packed and out of our room by 10:00 and spent the last remaining hours with family before hitting the road. The big news is that, this will be our last "vacation" to the Granite State. After years of living in central Illinois, the time has come to move back home and help out my parents. Ang and I will wait until Jared graduates from High School in May of 2017, I'll go to Galesburg once again with the modules then in July we set course for New Hampshire. We have a lot to do in the next 11 months but we both look forward to moving back home.

So how was your weekend? Productive? Tell us about it. We'll come back on Friday the 12th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

None. Too much else happening to do anything hobby related. :(

Well, I managed to finish the assembly of my new trestle. (It is now painted as well) it's 2 feet long by about 3" high. And -- I finished opening a bay on my cement dealership. As well as getting started on my 2 new replacement steel bridges.

Here is a photo of the trestle - ready for paint:

I got my last Caboose throw installed with a wire because the linkage wouldn't fit between the tracks, and tested it quite a bit. I'm still procrastinating about the ballast, but on the up side I'm running plenty of trains. Also started to assemble the kit (Gripp's Luggage) I'm going to use for the warehouse, decided to go stock after trying several kitbash ideas.

I finished the work car I showed last week with the rest of my growing MOW stable, and started on the undecorated Atlas RS-1 I bought last month.

That's when the real adventure started.

Getting the cab glazing out proved to be a royal pain in the hindquarters. I spent a lot of time trying to pry, tease, and generally horse out the thing without success. I needed to get the glazing out to paint the cab! So I put it aside before I broke anything (like the delicate plastic bottom frame... I cracked one).

And my cuss vocabulary usage was at about 76% of maximum (I would soon have had to borrow some from other languages besides English and French). And believe me, Quebec French is very rich in cuss words.

On my way back from the flea market, I thought about masking off the windows. Then the big light bulb came on above my head. Mask them from the inside!

As soon as I came home, I took some scraps of 0.005" styrene and first cut two pieces with the general shape of the cab ends (with the curve in the roof). I slid it in between the glazing and the cab walls, and it went in easily enough - so I was encouraged by the results and went to the opposite side. That one took a lot of cajoling to get it barely halfway up the top windows. Almost out of hope, I noticed that there was a small gap at the very top of the cab, probably caused by all the manipulations to get the styrene sheets in, just wide enough to get a blade in. I did that, and pried a little, and in 30 seconds, the glazing was out, in one piece, intact. Who's your daddy!

Now the cab and main body are painted, with steam generator appliances on the short hood. Next are the decals, to become GTW 1951.

I'm going to remember that trick.:)

Awesome stuff. It appears you are modeling in an attic. Good job. I have had two (2) iterations of my Albemarle Division in a basement. The current and. 3rd (and hopefully my last) is in my attic. SP-Wolf, that appears to be good scale/use/balance against a knee-wall and angled ceiling. As someone currently modeling under similar circumstances, that appears to be a good job. Bravo!

As for this weekend, I don't have any eye-poppin' photo's, but I did hit a milestone. I only had Sunday afternoon to work in the train-attic, but I started laying track in the staging yard. I also did a mock-up of mounting a Tortoise machine above the layout (which I plan for staging only). All of the visible layout of course will be machines below the layout. Didn't spend a lot of time in the attic this weekend due to "familial" "Honey-do" obligations, but I did pass the mark between toiling and "stoked".

Not really modelling, but work on the Trainshed where the modeling occurs. The grandson helped line up the cross bucks!

    Thank you KB !!
You are 100% correct, my layout is above my garage.

Here are a few overall photos of my layout "room". The room is roughly 9' wide by 20' long. 7' at the peak.

Just after the bench work was completed:

I was hoping to get some paints and decals this weekend so I could work on my Atlas S2. Didn't happen.
