The last weekend of April 2014 has left the station. Did you get everything done on your list this weekend?

Not me. Domestic duties once again derailed any chance of getting the list done I had set out on Friday. I was able to finish the detail parts on one of the two CB&Q heritage locomotives then spray the gray coat on said unit. I did this on Friday. Saturday was spent cleaning the house, and other "Honey Do's" so that we could spend all of Sunday at the soccer field. Looks like I'll be putting in a lot of late nights because I just found out all of Friday night into Sunday night will also be spent at the soccer fields. Such is life.

So how about you? Were you derailed or did you carry through with your plans? Let us know, with a picture if you have any. We'll come back on Friday, May 2nd and do this all over again. Until then, have a happy and safe week and...

    High Greens!

Attended the NMRA Keystone Division Jamboree on Saturday. Sold a few things at White Elephant room, attended several good clinics. HO Scale as far as the eye could see. Couple buddies tried to talk me out of the N scale switch, and they almost did.

After getting to operate a sweet S Scale switching layout, I scrapped my track plan and started over. Easy to do this when I still own exactly ZERO N Scale at the moment.

I still have stuff listed in the swap meet, trying to avoid evilbay as much as possible. Not having much luck yet, probably going to have to start listing on that auction place soon.

    Mission accomplished!

With 2 cold, drab rainy days, I planned to complete ballasting, as far as I could. And so I did.

Ballasting isn't sexy or dramatic, but now I can look at this loop of track, which has been on bare WS foam roadbed for years, and realize I'm done with it.

I even managed to pretty much finish the oil tanker platform.

    I looked at my layout . . .

Seriously we're packing up the kitchen in anticipation of a remodel starting this week, so domestic chores abound.

Mister Beasley that GG-1 looks great. And I'd love to see your finished oil tanker platform.

Spent a bunch of time on the 'Net, and on the phone, trying to search up sources for a couple of model RR project items. Grrrrrr.....

Well I got three out of 5 cars fixed up and ready to go. Glued down some more roadbed and track then wired a bunch of it. Now to carry on!

Ottawa Train Expo was fun - bigger, better, and a nice way to spend a rainy day.

    I also finalized these two:

A couple of "what-if" locos, had CN decided to try some 20-cylinder EMDs, one freight, one passenger. The FP45 now has black trucks after I found another Athearn FP45 at the train show - this time powered, and I tossed the lamp (which did not illuminate the nose headlight at all, just the cab) and exchanged that for a LED lamp that I glued on the former lamp support in the nose.

I have to admit those two big bruisers look darn good like that.
