The last modeling weekend of the year has come and gone like the decorations we used at Christmas. Did you get everything done you wanted to?

A great weekend for me as I finally got that siding down on my layout. The above picture is of the transition I made from foam for the main to the siding, simulating the full scale. Saturday I got up and finished the base for the siding area and carefully lined up the track and installed it. I checked for clearance issues as well as operational problems that could pop up. After a few hours of running, I found no problems and crossed this project of the list. Saturday evening I was surprised by Angela when she took me to Springfield to enjoy some fresh seafood. It was her way of thanking a crusty New Englander who is stuck in the midwest for enduring the Christmas rush and shopping. Sunday I started making the list of the locomotives I want to complete before Galesburg. Unfortunately, the fully detailed CB&Q E8 will not happen as I cannot find the decals for it anymore. So an early BN E8 it will be, but not the solid green with the hockey stick paint scheme. I did not make it to the hobby shop for my paint, the cleaning of Christmas and the start of the move took more of my time. Hopefully the shop and layout will be in the new room before the midwest winter really gets bad.

So how about you? Did you get any time at the layout or module this weekend? Any club open houses or shows? What about track work, DCC, DC or decal work? Whatever you accomplished this weekend, let us know, with pictures if you have them. I know there is some of you out there who might have some time off so your "weekend" isn't over until Wednesday the 2nd. Thats ok, post your updates then. We'll come back on Friday, January 4th, 2013 and do it all over again. Until then...

    Happy New Year!

Didn't get much done other than on the Rolling Mill. I assembled the roof vents and installed them, a few more pieces and it will set for a while before weathering. Upper level has no track yet so it will be a while before I need to proceed on the mill.

I left the roof open on the backside for access, no one will notice!

I picked up some more Kato unitrack and began planning a new T-Trak module. Since I like switching more than running I will build two three foot modules into a six foot industrial switching area. Sunday my Neice and her Husband had their new baby christened so I was able to visit the not so local hobby shop I usually shop at.

More work in Mooseport. I did some painting and weathering on the components of the carfloat apron. While glue was setting up and paint was drying, I spent some time improving the trackwork on my street-running section, which has been problematic from the start. I was happy that I got one section working pretty reliably, which give me hope that I'll actually be able to run the carfloat once I get it built. While working there, I decided I was finally tired at looking at the unfinished roofwork on the old mill buildings, so I took them all down to the workshop and cut strips of brick sheet to line the insides of the parapets, which will give a much cleaner look.

I drove from the National Capitol Region to the in-laws Green Bay Wisconsin in one day on Friday . . . recouped at the Green bay Gun Show on Saturday . . . . watched the Packers loose yesterday . . . and shopped at my favorite home away from home in GB - Engine House Services LLC today. So there are a few goodies to take home, but nothing photographed yet. Happy New Year!
