Faster than a speading Zephyr did the weekend go. Did you get everything done you had hoped to?

Saturday started off okay. I left the house early that morning, stopping at the local McDonalds for a quick breakfast and made the 40 minute drive to my clubs head quarters. Progress on the clubs N-Trak modules is coming along nicely.

Here is one of the modules. Simple is the key, so no scenery. The idea is to make everything easy for the modeler who has never run on this module before. Color coded roadbed as well as turnouts allow the modeler to know where the train is and where it will be going.

The bottom is about 85% wired on all four modules. I spent my time wireing up a y harness that allows the module to be pluged into a Powerpole connector (Home) or the standard Cinch Jones (Outside) for any module. We hope to have this set of modules done by the 2013 Galesburg RR Days show.

Soon I had to return home and perform the tradition of driving to a Chritmas tree farm, finding the right one based on the female decision process, cut down and haul back said tradition. Sunday was spent cleaning and decorating said tree. I did however get the Christmas train up, much to the delight of Jared (mainly because it is big and makes noise). The train went up with little problems, but based on the size of the loop, we will only run the last five years of cars versus the last 10 years as I normally do. With all the Christmas distractions, I was unable to work on the N scale layout. I hope to get a small amount of that done this morning before work however.

So how about you? How did you fare? Were you able to sneek out a few hours working on your clubs modules and or layout? What about your own? Was scenery work on the layout or limited to placing glass bulbs onto a real or fake Evergreen? Structure work, track work, decals, paint, whatever you did this weekend, we want to know. Tell us how you did, with pictures if you have them. We'll start this all over again on Friday the 14th. Until then...

    High Greens!

I was at the Greenberg show in Middletown NY this weekend. My club had our modular HO layout and our T-Trak layout going all weekend. I spent less than I had expected to. I bought eight NYC coal hoppers and a NYC caboose to use with my 2-8-0. Both layouts ran well. The T-Trak layout was 18 feet by 8 feet in size.

Saturday was rainy so I couldn't spray paint outside, and Sunday was Christmas Decorating Jihad. One of those weekends when I was glad when Monday finally got here.

Friday night I drove to PA and bought a new (to me) truck. Saturday the Wife and I shopped and I met a few MRR'ing buddies at a hobby store near Wheeling. I picked up an old Athearn BB 40' TOFC from the consignment box for $5. Slapped new couplers and wheels on it when I got home.... as good as new!

Still unpacking, putting things away and reorganizing after my trip to Oklahoma City for the train show on the 1st and 2nd. Gathering photos and material to start building an HO depot for a friend. The local NRHS chapter had our annual Christmas party at Puffabelly's Old Depot Restaurant in Spring, Texas. Four trains went by on the UP during the festivities.

No modeling completed. But I did run some trains, take pics and video of said trains on MiNi yesterday. Nice way to end the weekend.

JPIII, I like your siding bumpers, they look like springs. If a free rolling car were to hit one, would it be shot backwards at high speed? LOL

If the tape was double side, it would act like a hump yard retarder when the wheels roll onto it where it covers the tracks.

Tricky, but great idea. Being Blue-tape, I guess a switcher can pull the car off when needed. I'm impressed.
