Another weekend has successfully passed by us at light speed. Fortunately for a few of us, this work week is short. Lets see how we did this past weekend.

Saturday morning I fired up the N scale layout and got the B&M GP9 running a track cleaning car on the main. I used a Brite Boy to clean up some bad spots and started the process for the big re-alignment I have been dreading since July. I need to order some track today so it is here in time for the work sessions. As I said in Friday's post, it was time for Angela and I to have some quality time together alone. I picked White Pines State Park as our get away destination. We rented a cabin and was settling in when the silence of the woods was broken by a familiar sound...

Within walking distance of our cabin was the BNSF C&I mainline. I swore up and down to Angela that I did not pick this cabin based on its proximity to the line. In fact, a few books from Michael Spoor on the CB&Q had shown some pictures of this line near White Pines, but I could never find them. In the end, Angela and I had a good time relaxing with great food and beautiful weather. We did a fair amount of hiking, a just a bit of railfaning as well as some shopping. Turns out Angela has a "Sixth Sense" with trains. A few times we would come up to a scene with nary a train in sight and as I would get ready to leave, Angela would say, "wait." And just like that, a train would appear. Modeling wise, we stopped and visited the Oregon IL Model Railroad club and spent a few minutes talking with one of the club members. Angela seemed particularly interested in a small Z scale layout while we were there, hmm...

So how about you? How did your shows go? Did you find any good deals for future Weekend Modeling? Did, weathering, track work and scenery get done? Let us know how you did, with pictures if you have them. We are going come back on Wednesday, November 21st, for a special Thanksgiving Long Weekend Modeling Plans thread.

    Until then...

    High Greens!

Train Show! Yes, after the long summer drought, train show season has started. I got to the Greenberg Show in Wilmington, MA, on Sunday. I picked up a few odds and ends, including 3 box cars (1 RTR and 2 kits.) A couple of my favorite long-time vendors weren't there, perhaps planning to attend the show in Marlborough, MA, in 2 weeks. Also, they've contracted out the food concession, and the sausage and pepper subs were no longer on the menu.

During the games on Sunday, I did a bit of back-of-the-layout ballasting. Awkward spots that are hard to see anyway, but they'll be even more awkward once I finish the foreground scenery, so it was best to do them now. And, I started "familiarizing" myself with the carfloat apron kit in preparation for starting that later in the week.

I had my T-Trak modules set up in a layout with the Abany NY N-Trak clubs T-Trak modules in a show up there yesterday.

Two more days of running trains on the club NTRAK layout and then started tearing it all down last night. I have to go back to the Museum today to finish up. We had a good number of visitors and saw a few folks I had not talked to in years.

Finished weathering 3 locos and about 30 cars. Loco fleet is now 75% done and car fleet about 40% done.

I accomplished very little this weekend. Got up early on Saturday morning and had snow tires put on my truck (just a 2WD Ranger), beautiful weather on Saturday allowed us to put up our Christmas lights on the house and do to minor yard work and winterize lawn mower. Saturday night we went to my folk's for an early Thanksgiving, ended up staying the night and going to church with them in the morning. Packed up and left for the hotel last night and here I am at work now.

Only I accomplished was to set out about 30 "clean" freight cars from "staging" to get weathered. I'll be bringing some with me to the hotel next week.

No modeling (I'm hoping for time this Thanskgiving weekend) this weekend.

I did take the boys to their first model railroad open house yesterday. Two train shows in two weeks! One of them is entranced at trains, the other seems more interested in all the people at the shows. Either way, great fun for all!
