Another weekend is in the books, how did you fare?

I spent my entire weekend in Milwaukee at Trainfest working for my employer. Saw a lot of nice layouts and took a lot of pictures. I set my modules up with my club but did not run anything. While I was there, I managed to pick up a few Diesel Era issues that covered B&M GP9's and 7's as well as a lovely cold. The cold made working Sunday and the latter five hour drive home, unbearable. The show was a success to both Carstens and myself and it is always a good time seeing old friends again.

So how about you? How did you do? Did you get everything done you set out to do? Let us know, with pictures if you have them. We'll do this all over again on Friday, November 16th. Until then...

Not too much, really. I got the interior of the caboose wired up for an interior light and two Adlake lanterns outside. I'm still playing with the wipers for the wheels to bring the power on board, though.

Last week, while preparing to clean track, I had to put all of one of my subway trains on the Physically Unable to Perform list. These are Proto 1000 models and came with those questionable plastic couplers. I replaced two sets with Kadee #5s, and then discovered I had no more #5s in stock. So, I pulled the #5s off a pair of reefers, replaced those with the even-nicers #58s, and then put the 5s on the other two subway cars. You can't see the couplers in the subway tunnels anyway, but they still have to work.

Ran trains all weekend on our layout set up at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum. Had lots of folks drop by and chat and lots of train traffic going by outside on the UP and BNSF lines to add sound FX.

I was at a show in Poughkeepsie NY with my club. We had five layouts there that kept us all busy. I ran my N scale equipment on our T-Trak layout which we setup in a 16' X 6' U shape. Everything ran well with the exception of my Bachmann 2-8-0 that threw a traction tire halfway through the show. I was so busy talking with viewers and watching out for the little gremlins that I wasn't able to take any pictures. Maybe next weekend when i'm up in Albany NY with the Albany Area N Trackers on the 18th.

Lots and lots of time at Trains 2012 this weekend. Operating, presenting, hosting guests, nice banquet, and great discussions on the past, present and future of the hobby. In between found time to weather a half dozen locos...the loco fleet is nearly done!
