Another weekend has come and gone as quickly as it came. How did you do?

As I had thought, I got nothing done model railroad wise this weekend. Most of my time was spent getting the storage unit cleaned and organized. I hope someday my life will stay organized and this thing about moving every year stops. I did run a track cleaning train on my layout to get the track cleaned up, but other than that, zero.

How about you? Are summer plans getting in the way of progress? Breath easy those of bored kids at home, school starts soon. Cooler temps should be here soon and the slow migration to the bench, layout or module will occur. Let us know how you did, pictures if you got them. We'll do it all over again this Friday the 17th. Until then...

Well, I had a bit more success, but not much. I got my rib-side cars decalled and protected with Dullcoat. It's a time-consuming job, as the decals are very small. I've got a matched pair of Accurail cars, too, and I want to re-number one of them. I tried removing the number with alcohol, then with a pencil eraser, but all I succeeded in doing was removing some of the surrounding paint while leaving the number in place. So, I scanned the side of the car into the computer and made up a plain decal the color of the car side to cover over the number. It was the first time making decals with my new printer, and I was happy with the result, at least on paper, which is where the decal is right now. On my old HP printer, the decals would bleed when I applied the Liquid Decal Film to seal them, but with this new Canon printer the decals held their color and didn't bleed into the clear space.

While I was at it, I made up the decals for my 0-6-0T tank engine, a Bachmann model. This is the engine that I'd planned to use for carfloat operations in the part of the layout I call Mooseport. Unfortunately, it has poor electrical pickup. But, I've been reading about the new TCS decoders with on-board Keep-Alive, and I think I'll try one of those.

I've ordered some Silflor static grass in 4 and 6 mm lengths from my LHS. He's waiting to put together a larger order, though, so it will still be a couple of weeks before it comes in.

I added snow to and Snowshed #1 began installing it. There is probably another week's worth of work to get the joints covered while still allowing it to be removed for maintentance. At the same time I need to pin the base on both ends as the bents around the opening have deflected inwards a bit.

I numbered and painted white sills on a GP7 #1803 and an SW7 #325. Still need to make the G&OM shields.
I also cleaned up around the room trowing away old stuff and getting rid of old magazines. Just house work mostly. I'm on vacation this week, so maybe I'll get some more done on the layout.

This has me thinking of a seasonal greeting card type scene. Nice work!

I resurrected a project from the back burner and got a lot done on it. It is for my N scale Sunset Limited. I am working on a blunt end 10-6 made from M&R sides using Kato Budd 10-6 and business car parts for core kit. Yesterday evening my wife and some friends went to a local baseball game. Sugar Land now has its own minor league team and a brand new stadium. Home team got blown out 9-0 but we still had fun. I even caught a fowl ball. Ouch.
