Another weekend has been placed into the past but signs of warmth have us thinking that spring may finally be here, time for Weekend Modeling Accomplishments.

My weekend was spent from Thursday to Sunday in Toledo for a trade show for work so I did not get any model railroad items crossed off my list. Other than a bit of day dreaming and watching trains running through Toledo, I did not accomplish anything. That will change next weekend.

So how about you? Did you get everything done that you set out to do? Did modules get ready for shows and track get cleaned? Perhaps you got some scenery finished and some more locomotives set up for DCC. Whatever your accomplishments this past weekend, let us know, with a picture or two if you have them. We'll come back on Friday the 12th and do it all over again. Until then, have a great week and...

    High Greens!

    The train pervert strikes again.

Got my periodic train fix again, in a hobby show (not just trains, but all sorts of stuff from RC planes to military). I found some bits to complete some projects, and a P2K GP9 in green and yellow Grand Trunk colors. Before I put the shell on, I decided to test the unit. Good thing - I would have had to take it apart again since all four axles were cracked. It just sat there humming, or if it did move, it "humped" every few inches or so.

Fortunately, I have a few Proto FA/FB dummy locos sitting around, and I have noticed that they don't need perfect axles to function properly. So a swap of axles and voila! GT 4447 is now a working part of my roster. Before putting the shell on, I added some details (bell, MU, etc.) and moved the horn from the short hood to the end of the long hood.

I was at a train show and sale in Port Jervis NY on Saturday. During the previous week I installed some more signals on my T-Trak modules. They worked good for a while but then two of the new signals remained red with no train in the block. I couldn't troubleshoot the problem during the show as the circuitry is under the modules. When I got home I found that two of the current detectors had become energized continuously. When I secured them to the underside of the module I used a dab of Liquid Nails. When I removed the detectors I found the Liquid nails had not dried enough and may have caused the detectors to fail due to the moist glue creating a false path for the current across the circuit board. I replaced the detectors and they work fine now. This time I secured them with double stick foam tape.
