For those of us in the States, Monday is a special Holiday, a day we celebrate our independence! Some of us, your author included, get an extra day added to their weekend which means......

I was really looking forward to a long weekend to finally play with that newer Wrangler I picked up in May. With work being done for items in the shop and the mad dash to get module work done for Galesburg, I only got to put new wheels and a soft top on. Well rain is in forecast for most of the extended weekend so topless Jeep weather and cook outs are out of the question, unless the weather man is wrong, but when is he ever wrong? Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Whatever the weather decides to do, I have plans to make the most of the Holiday Weekend. The modules are all set up back in the shop and I have about 6 weeks until the proto meet in St. Louis, so I'm fine tuning all my turnouts, cleaning and grading the styrene for high spots. I also want to get a building put together for the City Job and in general, just relax and spend time with family.

So how about you? Do you have any modeling interests this weekend? Any lists of items that need to be checked off? Let us know. We will return here on Tuesday the 5th to see how we all did. Until then, be thankful for those who served and continue to serve, enjoy your weekend, stay safe and...

    HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

    High Greens!

The last sections of my yard will have feeders dropped from them, today (so that all individual pieces of track will have a feeder attached - no reliance on joiners for conductivity). This weekend I will test run across the all the tracks and switches in the yard, with all my problematic equipment, to make sure everything is still in alignment, before I start any under-bench hookup of all the feeders. If all goes well, I will start hooking up those 100 or so pairs to the power bus.

This weekend will see the last of the train stuff get boxed up - we are moving to the Gulf South in the next couple of months, so the train room is getting cleaned out to stage boxes as they are packed. It's been a refreshing bummer - we'll be renting the first year, so I'll get lots of modeling done but likely need a layout or two to borrow. More news as it happens.

I've got a few projects to work on. Start building my friends Santa Fe depot (In O Scale). And - continue with the ground cover around my roundhouse. And, any other project or project that catch my eye.

    Ya'll have a great and safe 4th!!

Plan on spending 2 of the 3 days working on benchwork. I may take some of that time and start some detailed track planning for the Albemarle City section. The benchwork is almost done and I hope to be on plywood/track in another 3 to 4 weekends.

Well, this weekend, as my wife recovers from her operation, I am working on turning an Athearn Blue Box GP40-2 into the D&RGW 3114. This requires removing just three fo the chicken wire radiator grills, and cutting the dynamic brake hatch to install a GP60 style exhaust box. It's a fun build...
