Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and this time to October. Yes, hard to believe but this weekend we flip the calander page from September to October and slowly enter the holiday season. Let's get started.

Saturday: I got back to Illinois late Wednesday night and can happily report that my brother and I succeeded in finishing the truck which is now safely parked in Dad's garage. Since I have been gone to either a show or New Hampshire since May, I'm planning on relaxing for the next few months. Angela, her dad and I will be traveling to Indiana to watch the annual hill climb, a vintage car show and challenge where folks bring their vintage cars and are timed to see how long it takes to make it up one of the steepest hills in Indiana. There is everything from Model T's, to Lasalle's and Studebaker's. The cut off I believe is any car built before 1970. I'm looking forward to the down time.

Sunday: I'm looking forward to sleeping in, brewing up some coffee and just daydreaming in the workshop. Now that I am home, I need to start working on all the layout items that have to be constructed in the garage while it is seasonable. I'll probably start with cleaning and organizing the room and start the plans for construction so I can get material next weekend. I also have a lawn to mow and general yard maintenance to take care of. I also want to treat my wife to a nice afternoon or diner as I have been away for a while. I'm sure the wife has some ideas as well, so I'll see what transpires.

So how about you? What is on your list of things to do this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, October 2nd to see how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

Well it looks like the weather is going to be okay this weekend in the DC area so I should be able to accomplish some outdoor stuff that didn’t happen last weekend or during the week due to illiness, long work hours, and the rain!

Saturday, around a kid’s soccer game a kid’s volleyball game I’ve got a bit of gardening to do, a trip to the dump maybe, and a run to the grocery store. In the evening I may have a beverage and put away all the structure kits that exploded on my benchwork in fits of track planning and kitbash dreaming.

Sunday, if all of the above is done, I will play with my track plan a bit more and finish up some volunteer work I started this week. Depending on what I get out of the garden Saturday, it might be time to make some more chili to freeze for later.

Somewhere in here I’ve got to do some decorating for Halloween too.

Jim, it's glad to hear you are home and the truck is done.

The kid is coming home this weekend for some activities with friends so Friday after work is a trip downtown to pick him up.
Saturday should have some train time available. Of course there is laundry and a couple of errands to do as well. Not exactly sure what all I will be doing this weekend besides consuming a lot of coffee while watching trains run. Now that the majority of all the scenery stuff is done, I've decided I'd like to raise the height of the layout by about 12 inches so I'll start working on plans for that. In addition, I'm not happy with the fascia and have an idea to redo it so will be looking at how I want to do that as well. There are also a few little projects both on the work bench and layout that may get some attention as well.
Sunday will consist of the normal morning routine followed by lunch and taking the boy back to college. Then it will be time to pack a bag for a work trip next week and try and relax a little before another super busy week.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good morning all! Happy Friday. Modeling plans this weekend will be few but should be able to happen. Late this afternoon we are heading out to the stadium for tailgating. NC State and Louisville playing at 7PM. Saturday and Sunday will be spent on miscellaneous chores other than modeling. I want to change strings on a couple of guitars, have some things in the garage I want to clear out, and some small bush and tree trimming to do.

There will be time for modeling however. Probably trying to finish up the BTS Cabin kit project along w/ some scenery work in couple of areas.

    Have a great weekend all!

    Good morning everyone,

Today will be making another batch of smoked salmon while the weather is still good. Saturday will be changing out a couple of loose electrical outlets. In between these things I will be continuing work on the Ntrak staging yard. Wishing you all a great weekend.

Good morning from cloudy and mild Northeast Ohio!

Today will start out with doing some cleaning up and putting some cars away into storage along with getting out what I will be taking to the club on Saturday. Then in the evening I will be going bowling, after getting my ball repaired I managed a 243 on the first game with it Tuesday night.

Saturday, the club has an open house to coincide with the Strongsville Historical Society's Harvest Festival and we will be open from 11 to 5. In the evening we will be going to my niece's restaurant in Ohio City to celebrate my wife's birthday with my son and his wife.

Sunday, will be doing the laundry along with choir practice, will fill in the time working on a Moloco GATC RBL kit.

I have started work on a Moloco GATC RBL for the DT&I after consulting with Nick Molo on which kit to use for the car and the modifications needed to match the DTI car, I have put the flat sides of the kit together along with the underframe and have started on the underside brake and cushioning detail. In the background you can see the load that will be going on the depressed center flat I built previously.

As I said before, organization is important. (y) Cleaning track is also important. (y) Exploding structures and fits of planning. Wow. Good luck with the layout height increase. My deal got real hairy before it got better. The cabin kit is much anticipated at this point. ;) Staging yard coming along too. ;)Super detail on that underframe! Thursday saw all passenger car sides laser cut. :) I decided to add an additional coach. I did a trial car end diaphragm and decided to make these by hand. ;) Next will be running gear and roofs. The roofs seem like they need some trial and error to get it right. Very pretty weather here will tempt me outside for sure. Will be away from the computer on Monday and possibly Friday. Have a great weekend and next week. :D

Its the first weekend of Crusin the Coast down here, so train time may well be severely restricted for prototype research. After Altoona I came into possession of an MRC 2-8-8-2 that will become my "What if KCS had done heritage steam" loco. Turns out they rostered at least 1 Mallet in 2-8-8-0 so I think its fitting.

Of course, if Congress fails to pass any appropriations by midnight Saturday I may well have several weeks to get caught up on train projects . . .

I have been sentenced to covid prison again! I tried for the garage cell, but there were hissy fits. So its my workshop/den cell. Maybe I can build some curved turnouts and call a section of the layout the Big Covid Curve.
