An eerie yellowish light pierces the dark morning as the wind blows and a nearby crow cackles. An unnerving sound is heard as the earth rumbles. What could it be? Why it's the spooky Weekend Modeling Plans Express!

Hard to believe that October is about done and with it it unleashes it's goblins, ghosts and vampires. For me, the only thing spooky is the $120.00 it will take to pay for my plates on one of two Jeeps. Jess will have to wait until funds allow it to get her on the road again. Starting today, my club, NSBN, will start setting up our modules at the Normal Public Library. The club does an open house type affair every year this time of year but in the past I was never able to go thanks to work. This year however, with model airplane shows a thing of the past, I'm free to run all weekend. I'll also be helping a friend design an O scale 2-rail switching layout as well. After spending Wednesday railfaning with him, he was interested in my joint N scale project and the research I conducted once in Galesburg. We talked about his size of his modules and what he had by way of industries. With some of this knowledge in mind, I hope to help him build a successful set of O scale modules. Work on my Galesburg modules will resume next week in between the job search.

So how about you? What do you have waiting for you on the work bench or layout? Let us know! We'll be back on November 3rd to see how we all did. In a programming note, please remember to turn your clock back one hour on Sunday morning (that is Saturday night for most of us) so that your trains are running on the correct time. Watch out for the little trick or treat monsters tonight, have a great weekend and...

    Happy Halloween!

Watch that first step, Mrs. Preiser!

I've done bits and pieces of ballasting to finish up the bridge scene and the disturbed trackwork around it. I had a small kink where the liftoff section met the original lead track, so I cleaned that up first. I could plunge ahead, but I think I'll take a step back this weekend and ..... clean track!

Yes, it's time to fill up the old CMX machine and haul it around. I've already got most of the trains off the layout and into the new staging. The subways have started showing dirty-track stalls, so it's time.

I've got a few maintenance jobs, too. One of my steamers is out of action with a bad truck on the tender, and I may use its time in the shop to re-badge it for the Milwaukee. I traced an intermittent short to an illuminated caboose, so it's sitting on the ready track and not going anywhere right now.

And football Sunday is the perfect time to start assembling that Cornerstone modular building on the coffee table.

I''d say she's in a spot of trouble with that shady character behind her...

I'm planning on a trip to the LHS to stock up on Kadees - those old kits I tend to buy at train shows all have horn-hook couplers and gobble up the Kadees like Halloween candy. While I'm there I might make an impulse purchase and generally drool all over their stock (a mandatory pilgrimage to the G scale display is part of the drooling ritual).;)

    And one more thing: BOO!!!!

This will be a fairly tricky weekend for me. I have to decide whether to take off all my HO layout stuff and remodel what I can into a On30 layout. Jim

I almost did that but then decided to make a small separate On30 endeavor. I have too much blood sweat and tears invested in my HO layout.

JimJ, I know what you mean about the original layout. I guess I've done all I ever wanted to do in Z, N, and HO scales, that space will allow in my home. At 70 now I feel I'm slowing down a bit and On30 will allow me to keep my current track plan and layout. Is that picture of the old time layout posted in Weekend Photo Fun yours? I like it. Jim

It's a blustery weekend where I am at with a big storm coming in. Which means I hope to get some stuff done in the train room or in a kit. We will see as the day progresses tomorrow.

It's supposedly going to be quite stormy here. Perhaps turning to snow Sunday. Not sure what I'll do, but hoping to spend a few minutes at the modeling bench painting some ready to go laser kit parts.

Well my weekend started off crappy. Spent the day putting away Halloween decorations. Hopefully Sunday brings some time in the layout room.
