Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are. Welcome to gateway to the weekend and it looks like a Friday the 13th, in October to boot! Hopefully we don't believe in superstations, but we do believe in progress and so with that, let's see what we have planned for the weekend.

Saturday: The forecast is cooler temps and rain. I don't mind at all. I'll try to sleep in but I'm betting on my back waking me up at 5:00am again and if it does, I'll head to my favorite midwestern lumber box store. I need to pick up a few things for the Halloween display the wife and I put up as well as some odds and ends for the shadowbox project. Once home, I'll make a pot of coffee and get started in the workshop. I need to clean and organize so I have room to move, then I'll start some measurements to see how long to cut the back supports of the shadowbox. Since the Falcon is small, I can back her up to the back of the garage and have a small area in my woodworking area in which to work. I hope to finish the shadowbox frame and start adding the backdrop and drop in the modules.

Sunday: No rain but still a nice 60-degree day. I have to mow the yard, probably for the last time this year and should clean the garage in anticipation for winter. I also need to do some research on a suitable replacement for the Christmas Train. The Christmas Train has been a tradition since 1997 and has had a new, dated Christmas car added to it every year since. It has had many iterations for years, but it has always been an MTH. With MTH O scale in limbo while Atlas takes over, I need a new transformer to replace the one that gave up the ghost after serving faithfully since 1999. So that will require some time in research. Hmm maybe this is the year I convert to American Flyer? I need to spend some time with my wife and may take her to breakfast and antique shopping, but we'll see what the day brings.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the middle of October? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 16th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    Hey All,

Eclipse viewing here tomorrow in South Texas. Also, first home pre-season game with Wemby tonight. Maybe some hobby time on Sunday.

I ordered up some parts to modify the top of the cab on this GP18 from Athearn. If parts come in, plan to add beacon and new antenna to make this a late-1980s equipped (freelanced) locomotive.

We'll see how the USPS does...

    Have a great weekend All,

Happy Friday the 13th! That means there will be the usual horrors of a normal work day. :D Today and tomorrow are the days for our fall neighborhood yard sale. Supposed to be cool with on and off rain today so the wife isn't putting anything out until tomorrow. I've not had any luck finding any train related items so it's really a non event for me. After work today, going to try and get down to the train room and see what I can get in to. Saturday is another system upgrade day so work is from 5:30am until 8pm-ish or so. It is supposed to be a much lower chance of rain and mid 70's here on Saturday and would have been a great day to get a few project items painted outside but alas, it's not to be. After a long day Saturday, I'll do my best to sleep in Sunday morning and recoup before another upcoming busy week. Like Jim's back, my knee may have other ideas. The temps are supposed to drop way off so big swings in the weather like that never help. I will still try and get some time in the train room though. Have a couple of freight car projects I'd like to get out onto the workbench and then we'll see where that goes.

For those of you that get to see the eclipse, enjoy!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

    Happy Friday to Y'all

Well - another non-MRR weekend and week. As we are heading out for a week of camping. I am really looking forward to this get-a-way.
As we will be off the grid. No - phones, TV, internet, noise, traffic and all other city related joys.

Y'all have a great, productive and safe weekend

Good morning all and best of luck to each of you on Friday the 13th!

We have been at the beach (Nags Head, NC) since last weekend. Back now and ready to get back in the train room or workshop. Train room will be limited to this afternoon and Sunday due to company coming over tomorrow and I will smoking a brisket for about 6 to 8 hours.

We'll figure out what train chores "got done" on Monday morning. Have a great and peaceful weekend all!

Good morning from partly cloudy and mild Northeast Ohio!

Today, I hope to get cleanup done in the modeling area and continue work on upgrading another old AHM covered hopper along with starting to decal a 50' boxcar kit. In the evening it is bowling so nothing else to be done.

Saturday, club day at the Strongsville club site, will be taking my Campbell's soup cars for a spin on the layout. Later in the evening will be working on decaling and more car construction work.

Sunday, doing the laundry, no choir as due to not enough members the choir voted to disband as we could not perform up to prior excellence. Prior to the pandemic the choir had 30 members, we were lucky to get 12 if everyone came. So will get some painting and decaling work done as time permits.

    Good morning all,

This weekend will continue work on wiring the control panels for my friend's layout and on the Ntrak staging yard. Will also do some fall yard work. The truck is due for an oil change and my wife's car needs new wiper blades. So we'll see how much of this I actually get done.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Woodworking in progress. (y) Interesting hood unit. Pesky system upgrades. :cautious: "Campward" ho! ;) Sometimes you have to go to the beach! Another covered hopper! (chortle)! @nscalestation, I have confidence in you. (y) Grandkids are definitely a priority. As of yesterday, all passenger car reporting marks are applied. Next will be various car doors. After that, the running gear. Then on to the roofs. (Is that a pun?) Have a wonderful, wet weekend as the case may be. :D

Saturday I’ve got some gardening and bush-trimming to do as well as some kids’ sports to watch.

Somewhere in there I’ve got to catch up on some volunteer work and finish some other paperwork. Later that day, I’ve got dinner with some friends so that should be fun.
The HS homecoming parade will go through the neighborhood too-first year I’ve lived here, so that should be interesting.

Sunday I’m going to reserve for trains stuff or playing with my kids (w/o a functioning layout I can’t combine those two things like I did in Japan on my small layout).

I’m going to finish my track plan and mock up some kit bash structures for a chemical plant so I can refine that track plan.

It took me a while for my brain to register that the photo is of a model! First rate model in an equally convincing scene. (y)

I like it when my brain gets befuddled like that!

I am working on cleaning up 20 plus turnouts from an old project for use on the SPIE RR. Some require repair from extraction from the old freemon project, but that's expected. I am short replacement ties but a friend is running some over to me. He needed an excuse to ride the motorcycle.
