Happy National Model Railroad Month! It's that time again, time to see what we have planned for the coming weekend.

I started my weekend last night by finishing off the final details to my best friends Atlas 2 rail O GP60. He wanted to have it painted in a local shortline's colors and since the real Bloomer has adopted the Chinese Red of a famous fallen flag, I was all to happy to paint it for him. It took about 16 hours to complete as well as many hours developing the decal artwork before sending away for the printing. While the Real Bloomer doesn't have any GP60's, I'd say it looks good on the modern locomotive.

This weekend my club, NSBN, is having their annual Normal Public Library show. My T-Trak modules will come out again and become part of the display. Saturday starts with breakfast at the local diner, then off to set up and running. I'll be leaving early in the afternoon because my favorite "not so local" hobby shop is celebrating it's five years in business by having an open house complete with hot dogs and 5% all items in the shop. Doesn't sound like much but he is actually a lot cheaper than most on-line retailers so it looks like I'll be getting some more Tam Valley Switch controls for the Galesburg Modules.

Sunday, we return to the Normal Library after 1:00 to run some more trains and perform our usual Bull Sessions before packing it up and making plans for Milwaukee Trainfest.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Track work, operations, maybe some last minute details to items your getting ready for Trainfest? Let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 9th and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Continue working on my roundhouse. Have a bit more painting to do, then final assembly. Perhaps work on my SW-1

    Thanks,

That is a sweet paint job Jim. Bravo! Do you have anything published here on your techniques? I do quite a bit of decaling, mostly freight cars, but I have a few undec'd engines I want to finally paint.

This weekend it will be (FINALLY) finishing the painting Saturday AM in the train room. Saturday afternoon is my football time (college football). The molding and doors got put in the last 2 weekends. All of the power outlets are done. Sunday, I plan on hanging the light fixtures that also came in the last 2 weeks. This thing is finally starting to come together. (knock on wood). Pun intended, I am finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel w/ respect to getting the 3rd edition of the Albemarle Division into the benchwork stage.

Thank you sir! I recently had my Rock Island GP40 in N scale published last Spring in N scale Magazine and there used to be a sticky in the N scale forum here on painting a CB&Q GP30 step by step. That was done back in 2004 and may have been removed after the upgrade.
