The last weekend for me of total, or almost total, modeling bliss is about to begin. How about you?

Yes after this weekend, it will be a non-stop marathon of post Thanksgiving eating, Christmas decorating, Christmas shopping, school vacation and a generally a loud distraction from modeling. I'm not a holiday person as much as I used to be, would rather spend time in the work shop than at holiday gatherings but that is just me. This weekend I start off Saturday with a bit of cleaning and getting ready for the second try of me and my buddy working on our modules again. There is an indoor soccer game then a trip to a friends house to finish cleaning up his property then back in time Sunday night to get started for the last of the weekend and into the week module work. I was able to get the roadbed down on one of the three modules last night. Hopefully by next Friday, we'll have a a main line down and trains running.

So how about you? Is this your last weekend of working on model projects before being pressed into Holiday service? If so, what do you plan to work on? Let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 24th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

After many weeks of doing all the projects that piled up while we had our kitchen renovated (!) I'll get the train room finally cleaned and reorganized. Then I have to pull my project list and update it - I'm taking several things off the list in preparation for upcoming manufacturer releases.

That will most likely be folowed by collapsing in a heap of gelatinous goo on the floor . . . .

    Let the games begin!

I put Penny on the airport bus this morning. She'll be in Florida visiting her parents. I am taking the entire week off, as 3 vacation days to get 9 days off in a row seems like a bargain.

I started yesterday, by ordering a CVP wireless system. CVP has a wireless receiver that works with my Lenz DCC, and there was an ad in MR for a pretty good sale on the receiver and two wireless throttles, so I am "going mobile" for train control. Hopefully, I'll get the package while I'm still home on vacation.

I'll be heading to Home Depot tomorrow to buy some more lumber. This will be the final section of Phase 3 of my layout. It will extend beyond the staging tracks, and will be the end of a short branch line. I've got an old Atlas turntable (so old that it's got 30 degree stall track spacing) that will turn the engine at the end of the line. I may put an engine house down there, too.

Picked a couple of new locomotives. An SP GS-2 and a GS-5 - that need some serious break in time. (N Scale) -- and some stock cars. That need detailing and new paint and lettering.

    Enjoy,

I'm building this Main Line Models Frisco 36' Cattle Car kit. This wood kit is actually 51 years old. Same age as me. The instruction sheet is yellowed and the few details parts are comparatively crude but it's fun to build. I still need to add ladders, brake wheel, trucks and couplers. It's a real blast from the past.
