Can you believe May is almost gone? Wonder why the warmer months go so much faster than say January? What's on your ready board this weekend?

There is a line from one of my favorite movies, A Christmas Story, where narrator Jean Sheperd says something to the effect of "Oh, life is like that. Sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at it's zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters descend upon us." With that quote in mind, I had just run a very successful train between all three of my Galesburg modules and was very pleased at the way everything was working, I got an e-mail. The e-mail came with an aerial view of the area of which I was modeling and showed me error after error. In the end, modules 1 and 2 have to be completely ripped up of track and re-laid. Module three, for the most part is fine. With Galesburg only a month away and my job requiring me to work more days albeit less hours, I hardly think I'll have time to fix everything or have run as good as it is now. I'm contemplating on cancelling the Galesburg set up and just being a railfan this year. Talk about the wind getting knocked out of your sails. Oh well. With that bit of information, I've kind of given up on the Galesburg modules and will use my weekend to get the two GP38's done. They have taken too long so this will be the weekend to finish them. Soccer games, shopping and other domestic duties will no doubt cut into a lot of my modeling time, so judicious use of shop time will be required for me to get these things done.

So how about you? What plans do you have? Finishing up a new layout room? Maybe some painting? Any shows this weekend? Let us know. We'll be back on Monday, June 1st to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, keep it safe and...

I would like to make some progress on getting many of my half-done projects completed. I have over a dozen locomotives in various stages of painting and/or decaling. Maybe I can knock a few of those out this weekend.

I'd like to get my work bench cleaned up so I can start a restoration on a music-related, non-modeling project.
Of course, I have to re-do the brakes on ym truck again after I just replaced them last October, good thing I'll get a warranty claim refund... that'll eat into my modeling plans for this weekend like everything else does.

Jim: Set a crane car up and take photo's of the module demolition/redo when it hits your schedule.

Tomorrow AM, I plan on priming the trainroom walls at and around where the ductless Mitsubishi air handler will be mounted. I got it ordered today. After I prime though in the morning, that will be about it for train related efforts. I have "domestic assignments" given to me in preparation for our upcoming annual vacation. (((I'm going to sneak in this weekend getting a CD reader for my laptop so I can read C&O valuation maps while on vacation))))

I'll be trying to frustrate myself, assembling some Micro-Trains 1025 couplers. I've used up my supply at hand of the assembled version, #1023. Rats.
