Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week. It seemed long for me but that major project for Athearn has had me working long hours. Last weekend there were some great accomplishments and progress, let's keep that up!

Saturday: It will be Angela's Grandmothers 92 birthday so we will be spending the day with her and family. We'll meet for lunch at one of her favorite restaurants then head back to her place for cake and visiting. It will be more of a relaxing day with no model railroading except for any chances I get trying to nail down an HO scale track plan.

Sunday: This is my last weekend home before I head to Denver for the Rocky Mountain Train show and the weather is still not cooperating. This part of Illinois has not seen the sun in what feels like weeks. We are in a constant cycle of colder than average temps and rain, so I will spend most of the day inside working on the N scale layout. My goal is to install the third servo for a turnout and install the rest of the track on the south side of the layout. If I have time, I'll start laying track on the other module or north side. This will definitely be a coffee, podcast and N scale kind of day. Maybe spring will be here when I return in April.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 27th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay healthy, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

    Happy Friday to Y'all,

    My plans are simple --

Saturday: We will be attending a family picnic. Should be a lot of fun.

Sunday: - I think, I will be going through my boxes of MRR "stuff" - I am in search of some long lost (misplaced) "stuff" --

Y'all have a great and safe weekend,
    Wolf

Happy weekend everyone! This weekend I have several things I want to do, but no clue which day I'll do them. But the hodge-podge of things I'd like to pay attention to are:
    • Work on detailing a couple of engines.
    • This week I separated all of the oil depot pumping platform pieces for airbrushing. So I'd like to got those done so I can start that assembly next week.
    • Work some more on the elevated LCL system. I may work on fabricating some retaining walls from 3/8" basswood sheet stock.
    • There are a couple of little building details on the layout that need some attention.
    • Time permitting, do some painting out doors on some projects. Mostly puff-ball trees that I desperately need.
    • Sunday, I am sure I'll run some trains. Now that I have the BL-2 in operation, may run the Sunday afternoon mail train w/ the BL-2 doing the honors. C&O used to run those in a few places (which probably most lines did from time to time). I've seen pictures of the BL-2's on the lower C&O pulling small local passenger and branch trains. Which is appropriate given EMD named the engine "BL" for "Branch Line".
Here's a shot of a C&O steamer pulling a mixed train/local. I "believe" on the old James River Branch.

Everyone have a great and peaceful weekend!!

In a surprise twist, Mrs Moose has given Moose the task of refinishing several pieces of furniture ... This could take several weeks, involve a lot of sandpaper, eventually stinky smell paint stripper, and - if yesterday's experience with a now dead palm sander is any indication - a whole lotta swearing!

Fun with model railroading will have to be put off indefinitely, sad to say ... and Moose will just have to model vicariously through the other fine modelers here on da forum.
    ;)

Hope everyone else has a great and productive weekend!

Half this weekend is supposed to be a washout which means little to no work outside. I am hoping Sunday I can at least feed the crocus and secure the arbor that blew over in the high winds last week. Inside there are Easter decorations to be done.

I would like to continue painting the walls for the Morgan House kit and work on the base for the Union Station and perhaps the road layout around the station. I have some decoders to install. I hope to be able to run some trains. Lastly there is some information I need to enter into the computer.

Good Friday morning to you all,

We have a show coming up in a couple of weeks for the AsiaNrail layout. I have my Tokyo city scene modules set up in the train room to check them out after 3-1/2 years of storage. I plan to work on finishing one of the Kato buildings that has been sitting unfinished on the module for 10 years and that's the project this weekend.

This weekend looks like another one where I don't get a lot done what with spending 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday working on running the Ohio State Bowling Tournament here in Cleveland along with bowling in my league on Friday night.

Last week I managed to install all the grabs on an Exactrail 4427 Covered Hopper kit and I may get around to finishing it if I get time, I also started decaling a gondola and boxcar and will hopefully get more done this weekend, but don't count on it as I was extremely tired when I got home from the tournament.

This weekend I'm hoping to get back to working on the layout, specifically dismantling and decluttering the room. I'm shifting from a multi-deck layout to a narrow shelf layout instead, track plan is TBD still.

Main reason for shifting from multi-deck to narrow shelf layout is to make some space for an electronics workbench setup. I need a better / consolidated setup for my Lumen PnP, reflow oven, rework station (includes a dual lens microscope). All of this is needed as I'm ramping up work on a few commercial products for a company that hasn't announced anything new for a few years and constantly suffers from items being out-of-stock, expect public announcements likely in late April or May. Hoping to have the products to a point where we can have the products available on shelves or at least demoable by TrainFest 2023 (Nov) or Amherst 2024 (Jan?), I'm also hoping to be in attendance of both of these shows (Amherst was amazing this year).

Ninety-two years! Wonderful! :) Boxes of "stuff". Sounds familiar. "Hodgepodge sounds familiar too. Swearing and sanding, sanding and swearing. That's how we get 'er done. :sneaky: Morgan House, sounds interesting. (y) Unfinished for ten years! Sounds like a trophy is due! When ya' gotta' bowl, ya' gotta' bowl. New products. Interesting. (y) The outside braced wood box car is finished. :p #162239, SL-SF, Frisco now sits protruding into Spruce Street. Let’s take a more in depth tour of this boxcar. Stats: Sixty-two total parts. About fourteen are hidden angle braces. Order boards on each door. Brake wheel and platform on the B end. The Frisco logo is on each side. Car does sit a little high. The side ladders are laser cut as are the sides. Simple roof walk and laterals. Glue streaks do show up on a magnified view. Seems like some research and experimenting are called for. Also, due to size constraints, little room on the end panels for larger markings. Actually, barely able to read. But...the boss said, “Run it!” Further note. Spruce and other streets are even to this day, paving brick made locally years ago. In this view is the retired Southern boxcar, #23376. The running gear in part was used on the new boxcar. The building is the South end of Murphysboro depot. Have a great weekend! :D

I'm with Jim on it being a long week and lots of hours. The wife has lots of different things going on for the weekend but with any luck, Ill find some time to continue work of loads for freight cars.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Well, this weekend it’s time to dismantle my layout here in Japan. Movers will be here in less than a month and I’d feel better knowing I packed my structures myself. It’s a little disappointing, but the silver lining is that we move to the DC area I should have room for a larger, more permanent layout when we buy a house.

I’m going to run a few trains while I drink coffee this morning and then down it all goes. My WC Waukesha Sub thread will just focus on weathering cars until I buy a house and start figuring out the next track plan.

I took the week off work to align with my kids spring break so I’m and around some short family outings I may get some weathering done too next week.

Well, looks like a nice weekend here in South Texas. Might drive around and see the bluebonnets, and if some time, catch up on yard work and then some car weathering. I think I have 5-6 now in the queue for such and like to work them in batches. Among them are some tank cars...one I am not particularly comfortable with doin'. Hope you have a good one.

Only one thing on my list for the weekend: Become one with the airbrush. I tinkered with it a few weeks ago and clearly need more practice. It has been at least two decades since I completed a painting project with an airbrush. I have a few non-critical projects lined up, my wife's support and some fresh paint. See you on the other side.

    Stay safe,

    Friday:
Built and wired up the rest of the directional signal lights, this took more work than I thought it would
Weathered the shop roof a bit more using some railroad wash from AK

    Rest of the weekend:
No plans yet, but I want to get some clouds started on the walls, and build a retaining wall for behind the yard section of the layout.

My MRR plans for the weekend include building a few turnouts and beginning to lay track on my branchline area. I need a 125' plate girder bridge to span three tracks at an angle. It looks like I will have to scratchbuild, kitbash, or use alternate solution. I may move one track further away from the double track mains and use a 80' and 40' with an abutment between the tracks.

There is plenty to do and I have quite a bit of plywood to continue benchwork on the other side of the helix.
