Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. Looks like we had some struggles and a loss last weekend, our deepest condolences to Wolf for his loss. Many did manage to get a few things done. Let's see if we can get some more done this weekend.

Friday: While I may not take the whole day off, I may punch out early. Today is not only St. Patrick's Day but my wife's birthday and since she is of Irish heritage with a maiden name of Murphy, it's kind of a big deal in this household. I need to gather some surprises for her and celebrate her birthday as well as spend some time with her as work has kept me busy for a while.

Saturday: We were supposed to visit with Angela's grandma and dad after coming back from their six-week escape to sunny Florida with family. While that still will certainly happen, we must attend a funeral for a member of Angela's family. We'll be away most of the day as the services will be up north, so I don't foresee any modeling this day.

Sunday: Despite the fact that we are supposed to be getting closer to spring, we are going to awaken to temps in the teens with a daytime high below freezing on both days. That of course could change as weather predictions are as reliable as modern-day cable companies. If cold weather is the case, I will brew up coffee, select podcasts and continue laying track on the N scale layout.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 20th, which is according to my calendar, the first day of spring, and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and of course...

    HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!
    &

Storms here this morning and more rain later and it's supposed to cool off here for the weekend. That's probably okay as Friday ia a work day. Saturday morning was already booked up but I had expected to have the 2nd half of the day free to head to the train room. Turns out the wife has other plans. We are off across the metro to take care of an item or 10, just not sure yet. The plus side is that may put us near the not so LHS and maybe I'll sneak in a stop. Sunday afternoon remains free and I hope I can get back to the work bench and continue going through freight cars looking for things that need to be fixed or opportunities to add some more loads to them. I also have a spot on the layout that has been waiting for some chain link fence to be installed. That might just happen too :D

Sure hope you all have a great weekend and safe and fun St. Patrick's Day

    TGIF to Y'all,

It's been one heck of a week.

On the work front -- I gave notice. My last day at work will be 02/18/2024. That will be the end of 42 years in the electrical parts business.

Looks to be a beautiful weekend her in sunny So. Cal.

Saturday: Finish up the S-1 and S-3. (I hope).

Sunday: At this point -- time will tell. Work on the layout - ? Clean track and just run some trains - ? Try out the new S-1, S-3 and repowered DS-4-4-1000 and S-12 - ?
    Start a new project - ?

Y'all have a fantastic weekend - stay safe
    Wolf

Good morning and Happy NCAA Tourney Weekend 1. NC State plays this afternoon so "HOPEFULLY" [/fingers crossed, knock-on-wood] I'll be watching them again Sunday. This weekend will be a mixed bag again, but the "big ideas" are:
    • Program prime mover, bells, clanks, squeals, grunts and groans into 3 loco's that got decoder installs during the week. A RSD 4/5, BL-2, and a RS-1.
    • Get bridge track permanently installed into the 2 approach bridges of the on-going LCL project.
    • I was rooting around on the "Gas Station" thread elsewhere on this forum and sort of got inspired to advance the oil depot I have started. So I may work on that this weekend as well.
@SP-Wolf, congratulations on wrapping up 42 years! That is awesome. Have a happy and peaceful weekend all!!

I plan to do more clearing out the room and Monday deliver a lot to a local Charity Thrift Shops for resale. It was 32F at midnight but today it will get rather windy with tonight's midnight it should be 4F. Happy St. Patties Day. It won't clear up until Monday so I will be busy inside clearing the room to make deliveries then.

I’ve got to pick up so more dullcote at some point this weekend. After that and a few chores I think I’ll weather some woodchip hoppers and gondolas.

Good morning from cloudy, cool and rainy Northeast Ohio!

Not much on the plate for modeling with the Ohio Bowling Tournament going on, but I prepped a couple of cars and painted them this week so I may get some decaling done on them depending on how tired I am after getting home. I have also started on building an Excactrail PS4427 Covered Hopper kit and may get some more done on it over the weekend.

SP Wolf, congrats on your retirement, it took an open heart operation to get me finally fully retired.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This weekend we hope to do some yard clean up. The wind blew over the arbor, so I need to fix that. There are some bushes that need to be trimmed. Around the house there is usual cleaning to take care of including laundry.

I would like to run some trains. I may install a couple of decoders. I will continue to work on the walls for the Morgan Building.

    Good morning all,

Wolf, congratulations on your retirement. It's been 10 years for me and I've never regretted it.

Have been in Japan for the past month and came home the evening that there had been a major storm during the day in the SF Bay area. In fact our flight was cancelled due to those conditions and we had to catch a later flight. Came home Tuesday evening to the power being out, a yard full of tree debris and several fences damaged but no damage to our house. One large tree in a neighbor's yard is leaning on and crushed another neighbor's shed and is threatening our place. A crew is supposed to start removing it today. Power was restored Wednesday afternoon.

So with cleaning up and catching up I don't expect to get to any modeling this weekend.

Hope you all have a safe and pleasant weekend and a happy St. Patrick's day.

Freezing! Always check with "The Brass Hat" for a clear signal for your plans. (y) The end of forty-two years and a sunny weekend. It's all good. ;) Project engines look super! Thirty-two degrees! Chores and dullcote. It is the life. :p I heard "covered hopper"! Laundry has been mentioned. :cautious: Walls going up! No wind damage is good news. Top o' the marnin' to you all. May all your comin's an' goins' an buildin' be as safe and good as a new babe in its mother's arms. (Written with an Irish accent. :D) Right now the outside braced boxcar has completed but uninstalled running gear as well as reporting marks on both sides. I would have got more done, but this week has been "March Monster Madness" featuring Godzilla. Even as I write this it is vying for my attention. :p Next will be end walls and roof assembly. I have scheduled a half day "modeling time" on Saturday. I am revving up my willpower. Have a wonderful weekend. :D

Happy St Patrick's Day and Happy Birthday to Mrs Wiggins!

I always have a plan but rarely end up sticking to it :D But I will try to:

    1. Get the rest of the lighting hooked up for the pulp mill and then get that installed on the layout.
    2. Make some saplings to go with the big pines.
    3. Finish ballasting the yard.
    4. Add more grass, just trying to figure out where I want to keep some dirt for the yard.
    5. Paint a background on the wall. That's one of my paintings in the back now, and what I love the most about building a model railroad is that it's piece of moving art. It's cool to look at it from different angles and perspectives and just know that you created this little world. I'm sure a lot of you feel the same and seeing some of your work just humbles me so much, the amount of time and effort that go into these are insane! Love seeing all your updates, they inspire me!
Here's my table as of today, March 17 2023.

Happy birthday to Mrs Wiggins! :)

Congratulations to Wolf for his pending retirement! (y)

    Friday:
Da Mooses will enjoy a pint or two of Guinness - my goodness! whilst watching a few Irish-themed films. Yeah! :D

    Saturday & Sunday:

Hoping to do some more work on the Lindgren yarder & log loader design. A lot of work for such a tiny n-scale project...

If the weather holds up, da Moose will likely be dragged outside to work in the yard.

Hope everyone has a product weekend! :)

    Hey All,

Looks like a cool and rainy weekend here in South Texas. I think my gardening plans are scratched, so I will likely catch up on some car and decaling projects. Some additional decals came in for the WNW project I showed last week, and maybe some progress to build out a few half-finished cars.

I did get some more accurate historical data for this 34-ft flatcar project and re-lettering complete, so maybe weather it and a recently decaled boxcar while watching the Mizzou game.

    Have a good one All,

Happy Birthday Mrs. Wiggin! Congratulations Wolf!

Looks to be a great weekend weatherwise here in northwestern Washington. Progress on modeling will be incidental to my other activities.

Friday: Started off taking a few boxes of stuff to the storage unit. Some train stuff, some not. Then we ran a few errands picking up material for the wedding shower my wife is hosting in early May. This involves me making a some things with the laser engraver and airbrush. In preparation I spent the previous few days reworking the laser enclosure and exhaust system. On the way home we grabbed some corned beef and cabbage soup from a local eatery. Then a nice walk down by the waterfront.

Saturday: Taking the Highlander in for summer tire changeover. Then to the farmer's market for more wedding shower supplies. At some point we are headed south to Mount Vernon to visit the nearest restaurant supply store. Apparently, we need two or three dozen champagne glasses for the shower. After we return, I will be cutting out some labels with the laser for event prizes.

Sunday: I will be installing and testing the rotary roller attachment my wife prompted me to purchase for the laser in order to personalize each of those champagne glasses. I suspect this will be a multiple day event as I work through the learning curve. I might not get to any actual modeling this weekend, but all of this activity has been great preparation. The exhaust for both laser and spray booth are much improved over my previous attempts. Besides the roller, I got several other small attachments that should improve the quality of my modeling projects. I will also need to become reacquainted with my airbrush. That was on the list for the Mikado project. Rather enjoying making progress on my modeling while not doing any modeling.

    See you in Spring,
    Stay safe,

Got my IR sensors in the mail today (earlier than expected) so I stayed up late and installed on the layout!

My MRR goal for the weekend is to paint the branchline benchwork and add the backdrop. If I get it done early the upper level staging will commence.

    We will see.
