Greetings everyone and welcome back to the Gateway to the Weekend. It looks like a large majority of us were busy in the workshop or layout. For those who did not get to work on those projects, chin up, your time will come. Let's get started.

Saturday: Winter has returned in east central Illinois with snow and highs in the 20's so no work on the NTRak module as this is a garage project at this point. I hope to switch gears and work on finally laying track on the N scale shadowbox layout.

Sunday: Maybe, just maybe, we will see temps in the low 50's. I'm always skeptical because when the weather says it will be warm, it is usually off by 10 to 20 degrees in the cold direction and when they say cold or snow, they get it accurate. No matter as a close buddy and myself are going to Springfield for a train show. In fact, my first train show in over two years. Wow, seams hard to believe. We also hope to make it to a hobby shop in the area, one I have wanted to go to for a number of years but due to the odd hours, I've yet to catch them open. Hopefully we'll be fortunate. After that, if it truly is 51 degrees, I'll work on the NTRak module and make some progress before the evenings end.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll return on Monday the 14th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

So, looks like another weak MRR weekend.

We will have our Granddaughter this weekend.

We are heading out to my Wife's nieces son's birthday party tomorrow afternoon.

And for Sunday -- who knows. I have a project I would love to get done (Re-lighting a GS-5) -

    So, report on Monday

Y'all have a great and safe weekend,

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio, turning to snowy and cold this evening!

Tonight is bowling, hope I continue my streak of 600 series I have had recently. May get some modeling done today working on some car kits.

Saturday, is club day with a chance of lake effect snow while getting there, then later may start decaling the Tichy pseudo covered hopper kit and a FGE RBL kit for the N&W.

Sunday is laundry along with anything I can get done, need to move some stuff in the basement so I can see how I can get a layout going.

    Weekend greetings all.

This weekend I have no big goals, but will be spending some time in both the workshop and in the layout room.

Workshop efforts: Plan on getting out several engines that I have not used in a while, they are in good shape but just need some attention. Mostly sprucing up paint, handrails, cleaning, that sort of thing. I also have several in mind that I plan on swapping out decoders. Won't do the decoder work this weekend, but will get 2 or 3 engines esthetically and functionally ready for decoder drop in, testing, and then put to work on the layout.

Train attic efforts: I have several miscellaneous tasks up there such as putting in a Tortoise machine or 2, putting various tools and stuff away, cleaning off the staging layout (still too many cars on it), and possibly start installation of the DCC Specialties, PSX-4 circuit breaker board. Will definitely have a train or 2 running while I am piddling up there.

    Have a great weekend all.

    Arrggg, Moose's mischief:

Friday: Spend time with Mrs Moose :) ... cleaning house. Huh? o_O Paying tax lady for her services. Sigh... Maybe eating out. Yeah! :)

Saturday: Looks like all day working in the yard... Stinkin' yard.

Sunday: Maybe finish adding some background terrain behind Oban Yard and working on the Oban Station. Yippee! :D

Now, what will actually get done... :cautious:

In a moment of clarity, I figured out that if I move the location of a switch in my yard, I can gain some needed engine terminal space if I give up some less-needed yard space. I need to measure things out before re-construction begins. This is a new layout in progress. Track planning software is great, but it's hard to foresee operational nuances until things are in place.

I'm using Kato Unitrack and only lightly glued the track in place at random spots, so the change shouldn't invite disaster.

We are supposed to get a frozen mix tomorrow so that means no outside plans around the house. I do need to finish the heavying cleaning of the floors in the living room, kitchen, and foyer. I am sure there are some other little projects lurking about.

I am trying to clear up the pile of freight cars that need tuning up. If I finish that I may start building another structure and/or work on the coal yard.

Got the paint issue on my caboose resolved and all restored, now just need to add the decals. Yay!!!! Not sure what else I might get into thereafter. Some sort of further modeling work bench mischief, I am hoping. We shall see!

Re: the above. Yeah, me too! Chore week here. I am indeed keeping my chin up. (y) Hectic week indeed. Still piddling with slope sheets. Just messed one up before getting on here. But, will persevere. Bad weather this weekend should help. ;) Have a fun weekend all.

Weekend update: Regular followers of the Weekend Plans series may remember I have several modeling and modeling support projects going at one time. My workhorse PC is in need of repair, three "broken" rotary tools, a new laser engraver; all of which are intended to further my UP 2295 Mikado and NP passenger car builds. This week I found some tubing and couplings to cobble together an air assist for the laser. Also scrounged materials for a base. I put together a charger that promises to extend the life of my old Dremel MiniMite Model 750, circa 1990. It is my favorite modeling rotary but came with Ni-Cd batteries that are becoming more difficult to replace. Now running on Ni-Mh. I didn't find anything on the market I thought was better and the chip to convert the charger was $10 for two, including shipping. Everything else was laying around here. Which brings me to:

Friday: The PC power supply is "Out for Delivery" according to the tracking status. When it arrives, the testing will begin. In the meantime, I am discharging the Dremel batteries to try out the new charger. That means I have time to work on the laser base. Car in the shop needs to be picked up after lunch.

Saturday: Family activities will take up most of the day. Probably have breakfast with my son. Later my niece will be in town with her three little ones. One we have never met and the others we haven't seen for two years. Not much happening model wise.

Sunday: Finishing up the projects. I will evaluate the changes to the laser. Might even cut my first actual modeling parts. Need to put together a list of electronics parts for the workspace. Working on the chargers and PC highlighted the need to have a "lab stock" inventory of components. All my old stuff disappeared when we moved four years ago. I haven't found an outlet here in Bellingham for that sort of thing.

    Stay safe,

Alright, so remember my post from last week in this thread? I'm gonna do all this DCC & AC wiring and stuff in a weekend, an impossible task for me. I should have known better.

This week's go through my 3 totes & misc. boxes, organize, trash stuff, categorize items, etc.... Well it's snowing here, and I have already started it, and all the totes are empty. The room is a wreak, but I am very far along already. Some people will call it cheating... me, I call it being smart this time around. :) And what's really cool is I found some rock's already painted grey I made with the Woodland Scenics Hydrocal and the rubber mold's and the stuff to make rock's many years ago. Me thinks the Hydrocal is still good as when I opened it, the white powder stuff misted in the air. And it's at least 10 years old. But further investigation could prove me wrong?

Mostly sleep-I had some work things were I had to be at the office around 2am through noon or so each day.

Saturday is my youngest birthday-we will glue some n scale tigers in a DRGW stock car and run her mixed freight train that she collected so far: a NS F9 pulling a CN open autorack, a pink WSOR box car, a CN cylindrical hopper (rainbow color on one side), the aforementioned stock car full of tigers, with a CN skytop lounge car pulling up the rear. She got the skytop for Xmas this year and we spent an afternoon coloring some undecorated people and putting them inside. We also have a pool/pizza party to throw and pick up after at the local indoor pool.

Saturday night when the kids are asleep I’ll try and celebrate and reflect on things for a bit. I was told Friday that I’ll be getting a promotion this fall. I will celebrate by running trains.

Sunday I will do some more scenery on the switching layout. I need to work on the areas around the engine house and the freight house. I also noticed a spot on my bench work with a little bit of a sag, so I’m going to look at shoring that up.
