As Jim Wiggin will be off the grid for the next two weeks I volunteered to get this going this morning. I plan to be off in another direction so don't know if you will see many posts from me as well. Hope you have a great weekend and accomplish your plans.(y)(y)

Good morning from partly sunny and mild Northeast Ohio with a haze of smoke particles!

This weekend we have no outstanding social commitments except for picking up my wife's new glasses and a trip to the Strongsville Model Railroad Club on Saturday.

Over the weekend will be painting a covered hopper rebuild and a Proto 2000 50' boxcar. Then I hope to decal the covered hopper and a 50' RBL that I painted a couple of weeks ago but was waiting for some decals to apply to the car. I am also working on building a 50' Branchline boxcar kit and a Concor 60' Greenville Boxcar with major modifications to replicate a Nickle Plate car.

    Happy TGIF to Y'all

We will have our Granddaughter for the weekend - so, I'm not sure how much MRRing I will get to.
I hope to add maintenance equipment to my utility truck project and get them on the layout -- we'll see.

    Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

Good Friday morning to you all,

I feel for those dealing with all the smoke in the eastern parts of the nation as we have had that here several times in the past few years but not this time. I know from those experiences that it's a good time to stay indoors with a hobby if you can.

Last week the Ntrak corner module was dropped off by the club member who had re-done the 30 year old scenery. This weekend I'll be working on a few finishing touches for this module and pack it and my own modules up for the trip to Reno. On Sunday my wife and I will go visit her stepdad at the VA. An early Father's Day visit as we will be at the convention on the actual holiday.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend.

    Hey All,

Saturday, I'll be attending and presenting at the Division 6 Lone Star Region hosted luncheon in San Antonio (open to all). Hope you can make it if in the area.

Sunday, I'll be working on a GP-15 repaint for the Wichita and Northwestern (hack of a CNW loco). I have a couple of cars to patch out stenciling such as this NOKL gondola which also needs a RR tie load...

    2023-06-03-stack (3).jpg

I'll also be working on cutting out the first pieces for the W&NW layout (modular/sectional). Looking like temperatures will be approaching 100 degrees here, so maybe a limited amount of progress here in S. Texas.

I hope you have a great weekend,

    -Bob T.

Off in another direction. Sounds like a safari to me. Particles = "pesticles"... Covered hopper? :cautious::love: Granddaughter = happy :) Yes to trains in there. ;) Reno bound! ;) NOKL looks cool. (y) Hot and humid here. Fishing done anyway. Fishing. No catching. Currently steam cylinders made and now mounting valve chests. Next is cross heads, guides, and yokes. And then more stuff. :p Be fun and safe on the weekend. :D

Saturday is the Delaware County Pride Festival which my son is the chief organizer. While my wife and I will not be in attendance due to her mobility issues and the possibility of issues from any remaining smoke, we will be helping this evening with last minute prepping and loading and unloading vehicles. I will be on call most of the day tomorrow just in case there needs to be an emergency supply run. Sunday will be recovery day and the beginning of putting everything back into storage. If time allows, I would like to go out and get some plants for the front garden. We do need to make a grocery store run at some point over the weekend.

I have a bunch of Athearn RTR cars that need couplers changed. There are several other cars that need to be examined to see if they meet standards. Any of the cars I finished will need to be entered into inventory. I would like to run some trains and possibly upgrade a locomotive or two to DCC.

Sipping a coffee in Montesano, Washington. My objective for the weekend is to be in Mount Shasta, California by Sunday night. We are on “The Road to Reno” and the N Scale Convention. Hope to have a post up about our progress in a separate thread later today.

    Stay safe,

Not a lot of trains in the plans for this weekend, we are hoping to wrap up the solar install this weekend and be ready to have the electrician come out and complete the main panel swap (100A -> 200A upgrade).

I plan to add the backdrops, paint, cut in a slight grade for the mainline, add track and accessory bus, then rough out the trackplan on the beginning of the yard. If all that gets done I'll start the far corner double deck module.

Future CN 4801 (GP7) work is underway!

Tested the new paint on a small part (dynamic brake blister, removable on some Athearns) and the results were good!:)

Good enough to remove all the loose stuff (handrails, other details) and paint the main body. Nice result!

I still have to figure out what's going on with some of the cab windows (the ones facing front and rear on a high-noise unit). They seem to be some kind of transparent soft rubbery thing that is resisting extraction. Weird.o_O

What I don't get is that this exact paint (italian olive) was AWOL during the entire pandemic, and within a week after the WHO declared the emergency over, it appeared on the store shelves... Very very strange...:cautious:

I might just add making a tinfoil hat to my weekend planning...

No modeling planned as my kids and I are trying to fly on the contracted airplane that takes military personnel and their families from Japan back to the US. We were supposed to take off 5 hrs ago, but we’re delayed until tomorrow. This contractor has a history of delays and information about what is going on hasn’t been forthcoming other than “maybe we’ll depart tomorrow afternoon” (22 hr delay). I thought at least I’d get to spend a couple hours in the basement of the new house, imagining the next layout, but that might not happen until Monday, now.

Knee is killing me right now so not sure I will make it to the layout or workbench at all this weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I was able to get most of the two sections painted. I still have to paint the main module top, but the legs and frames are all painted. Backdrops are roughed in. I need to go back and use filler in the gaps and paint. It sure looks better even if the backdrops are smudged a bit. I narrowed the plank(bridge) over the three tracks entering the helix to help bring into focus my intent to use an extra long girder bridge.
Tomorrow I hope to set the slight incline on the double track main in the back, paint the top, then I may just begin the corner module.

The color is indeed perfect. Progress on 4801:

    CN_4801_decals.jpg
There's a lot of Micro Sol on the name decal, and I dabbed a little Micro Flat on the builder's plate.

The other side is already done, as is the cab, which has the matte coat on already.

In my bric-a-brac case, I found a bell, barrel headlights, horn and CN's cylindrical spark arrestors.

Don't mind the roll of aluminum foil. That's a side project...:sneaky:
