Where has June gone? Is it almost time for July? Better get that list of train items done!

Normally this time of year, I would be typing this in Galesburg Illinois at the start of Railroad Days. Alas, this year I'm still sitting at my desk as Galesburg is not my destination. I'll be headed for my native home of NH in a few hours, making the trip in two days. I'm not going to say no train items on this weekend however because I plan to drive the second day in up state NY. VT and down into central NH. I'm hoping to see some Vermont Rail, New England Central and even some Pan Am. Saturday night, my hotel is not more than a mile from the former B&M line I'm modeling in N and is still active thanks to the Bow Power Plant. So trains are still in my future. Monday's thread may be a little late, depending on how late I sleep in!

So how about you? Am I alone in looking for some railfan oppertunities this weekend? How many are going to Galesburg or other train shows in their area? How many just plan to stay home and work on bench work, track or scenery? Let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 30th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend and...

    High Greens!

I am all set for tracklaying on my new Andersley Western HO layout, so intend making inroads into that over the new few days. :)

Already removed a second section of the existing layout earlier in the week. I've been up since 6:00 AM, everything is packed away except for a few odds and ends. Looks like I can probably remove the next two sections in the next few days. I have a handful of both HO and N Scale cars I need to stick on that auction site.

I salvaged a curved switch from one end section and cleaned it up. Apparently, the dimensions of #6.5 Shinohara switches in XTrackCAD are wrong, little bit worried how the new plan is going to work out. In XTrackCad, #6.5's are decribed as having radii of 20/24, but the underneath of my switch clearly says 22/26. I may need to look into #6 curved switches (18/22 radii?) in order to be able to make this work out.

Working on finishing my tunnel section by finishing and cleaning ballast work and then finishing mountain shell.

I hope to start building the benchwork for Phase 3. It should be a nice weekend, so I'll be tempted to take bicycle rides, and uh, "tempted" also to fix the deck and run the weedwhacker.

Raining here, so a good prompt to get to work on the layout!

We're at the end of the kitchen remodel (!), so I will be spending time removing all the temporarily stored stuff from the train room. Then its track cleaning time. Followed perhaps by track laying time. Or a good Bourbon.

I still want to get the insp. pits built and installed before the floor gets in the way. That'll be priority, then there's always research for what's next. Bobby
