We're just past the halfway mark of June, better make it worth your while!

Unfortunately for me, model airplane season has kicked into full gear for the duration of the summer. Soon as I'm done here, I have work to do on a 1/4 Scale electric powered Piper PA-18 Super Cub. This is my last free weekend until vacation next week so I have to make the most of it. The only train items I have going on is maybe selling some more locos to help in finance of some hardware that will be given to a certain someone during our vacation.

So how about you? What is on your weekend to do list? Track work, bench work, maybe a bit of painting? Whatever it is, let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 23rd and see how we have all done. Until then, have a great weekend and...

    High Greens!

I'm going to finish my layout. OK, I'm going to finish Phase 2 of my layout, but in reality there are still a few touch-ups I need to do. Over the last couple of days, I put Gypsolite over the last small bit of pink foam and added turf and ground foam to it. I plan to put on the static grass tonight and add a few trees tomorrow. Done. (Yeah, I know. A layout is never really done, is it?)

Lumber awaits in the garage for the Phase 3 benchwork, but lumber also awaits outside to fix some more of the deck. With luck, I'll have time for both.

I've also got an old Athearn "growler" partially disassembled, in preparation for the "Pearl Drops" treatment to quiet the gear noise. If I can get it quiet enough, I'll look at replacing that much-traveled DH123 decoder with the appropriate LokSound model.

Decided to stay with HO Scale for too many reasons to list here. I drew up a plan that utilizes the existing section that already has track and scenery and a new end section with more functionality and a lead in to a 4"/ 2-track staging shelf. Currently, this section is at the bottom of level of an old three-level plan. I'm going to remove everything out of the room, build storage shelves and place the section I'm saving on the top at 58" height. This decreases modeling space from three levels to one, but increases our household storage a lot plus allows me to have an actual workbench, thus keeping the layout clear of excessive tools and parts.

This weekend, I'd like to get more stuff packed up for temporary storage in the office/spare bedroom so I have room to dismantle existing layout. I'd also like to carefully remove an Shinohara curved switch I have installed on a section I'm going to dispose of, a penny saved is a penny earned!

There's a train show in OKC this weekend, I'm gonna' try for Sunday if the weather holds. I'll work on the insp. pits Sat. in between interruptions for the yard and food and the other things that always show up.
