I have to admit, it's getting harder and harder to come up with something to say as it seams each day there is something going on in the world that makes me feel all our plans are irrelevant. I'm thinking of the 11 law enforcement individuals that were ambushed in Dallas last night, five of which wont be coming home. Please remember these officers, and regardless of your thoughts on the men and women of law enforcement, gun control and such, remember that five souls have left the earth doing their job.

In light of this and other recent events, we assemble on yet another weekend.

I started construction the other night on the first of many buildings for the Butler complex. This building was constructed using the old and now unfortunately discontinued, Walthers Modulars building sets. I based the foot print and style of this, the main office building, on images my partner and fellow modeling buddy had found at the Galesburg Library. It fits perfect and matches the area well. Although some window placement is based on logical guesses, I doubt anyone will really take offense to it.

I hope to get more done on the building this weekend, mainly finish sand the doors and windows then start painting the various sub assemblies. Because this building is so close to the front of the layout, I plan to give this building an interior complete with reception area, offices and a small loading dock as seen here.

Since last weekend was a wash out of epic proportions, I plan to take out two of my favorite ladies for a date day. I'm taking Angela out for a day of riding in Jess my Jeep with the top down on roads less taken. A nice get away with maybe a train or two stuck in there for good measure. All in all, I hope to have a relaxing weekend with my lady, trains and Jeeps.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Track work, shows, maybe a bit of railfaning? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

Can't get anything done this weekend. My wife came up with more remodeling plans. Gutted two bedrooms, one is where my MRR work bench is. We'll be hanging sheet rock and replacing the breaker panel for the upper level of the house. Not internet either because it was in the same room as my work bench.

Lots of railroad projects have been put on hold until I get my room back.

It should be a nice weekend, might as well spend it indoors working on something! I have gotten way, way behind in my modeling. I really need to change that.

I will be working on my friends O scale station once again. I have the walls and floors done. Gonna cut out the roof panels and then paint the windows, doors, floors, walls (Inside and out) and hopefully the roof. As for my layout -- hope to continue with the ground cover. Perhaps get working on the rest of the roads.

Ya'll have a great and very safe weekend,
    Wolf

So I have come to discover that I really do live in a bubble.
I was not aware of what happened last night in Dallas. Sad and scary times we are living in.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those that work so hard to protect us.

And on a lighter note, Jim enjoy the time that you have to spend with your ladies.
My favorite road trips are the ones where I have no particular destination. When I come to an intersection, junction or fork in the road I will stop and wonder where does that road go or what is down there where I can't see? So I turn and go find out. One of the best vacations I've had was two weeks of exploring back roads and by ways between California and Idaho/Montana.

    Enjoy the weekend.

I have gotten so far ahead on bench work, this weekend I may tackle putting down the sheet cork on the staging yard. It is the only place I will be using cork. I ordered the rolls about 10 days ago and they came this week. I have about 70SF to put down and then paint over. If I can get that done I can ... dare I say it, start thinking about tracks in the staging yard. Been a long time coming.

Also (time permitting) I'll probably work on the bridge I'm building. But that's "iffy". I have been charged by the boss to haul some things off in the garage and do some cleaning out there. So we'll see.

I finally got to the wiring on my switching layout, and this afternoon dropped the first feeders and ran a locomotive around some. Re-discovered that I hate the suitcase connectors and since I can lift the entire thing on its side I got rid of them and just soldered the feeders to the bus. It's too hot to do much outside this weekend, so I'll probably paint the track, install Caboose throws and if I'm feeling real ambitious maybe start ballasting.

I am debating about setting up my drafting board for some planning, or working on an HOn30 box car kit.
