Well look what time it is! It's time to see what we all have planned for the weekend model railroad wise! With a normal work and life routine now in place after the Holidays, I'm ready to go! My new employer I started working for in October is now letting me work part time at four days a week versus three so that helps out the old budget but still gives me time to work on the ever increasing load at Wiggin Locomotive works. My main goal starting today is to get PPUIN's IC Paducah in the paint booth and start adding decals. All the fabricating is done and two primer coats were put on the other night. I can't wait to get some IC white and orange on this model. I also have a model built up of the IC's first Paducah That I would like to finish at the same time. Work on my modules continues just about every night. I'm at that boring stage right now. I have all the ties in and 60% of the cork foundation down on module 2. Module 2 by Jim Wiggin posted Jan 8, 2016 at 7:40 AM It's the slow and boring process of getting what will be the concrete foundation of the massive complex. Not a lot of grass or vegetation on this module. I hope to get this module completed this weekend so when I get back from my trip to Massachusetts, I can start laying the Monster Model Works concrete laser cut sheets. If I have time, I need to start placing the same cork foundation on Module 3. Fortunately, it doesn't require as much as the other two modules and will feature more static grass than concrete. If I have time, I might stop by my old club in Champaign to see them at their annual Library Open House show. They plan on having their Ntrak modules set up and it will be nice to see old friends again. So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Track work, DCC, scenery? Let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and... High Greens!
This weekend is the Great Train Show in Richmond, CA. The Silicon Valley FreeMo-N group will be there (along with a number of other great Bay Area groups), and we should all have a rocking time. The venue is the beautiful Craneway Pavillion, right on the edge of the bay with a magnificent view of San Francisco. It was the old Ford Motor plant.
I'll be continuing to work on and hopefully finish my SP sand house project. It needs a couple of ladders, roofing and paint. Wolf
Working on it right now. Hand rails and grabs on an HOn30 44 ton center cab. Unfortunately, am left to guess the hand rail height, a nobody answered my question in the Inspection Pit. Very strange and a bit disappointing, as I know we have folks here who make their own.
After Tuesday's fiasco, I had to rip up track and sub roadbed to fix a small problem. Thursday I replaced all that sub roadbed and Sunday when I get home I will lay the cork roadbed the. Replace the track. In the down time one between the glue drying I will research how to make rocks using the rock molds I have and see how I can get the mountain that was started last Sunday to look a little better. I also have started today with the weathering and changing of the wheels and couplers on a couple of cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Gettin started on a GHQ conversion for gcav17. A Milw F7 Baltic over the Kato/Con-Cor Hudson frame. It gets Loksound, headlight, firebox etc. Will post a couple of pics later.
