A cold blast of Arctic chill has enveloped most of Canada and the U.S. Temps from -36 to a balmy 26 degrees sweep our part of the world. Sounds like a good excuse to stay inside and work on our model railroads!

While this chill is bad for some of us in the southern states, those of us in the northern states and Canada just call this "Building Season." I'm off to a show next weekend in St. Charles MO. so my main goal is to work on my Maywood Station T-Trak modules. I picked up my crossing gates back in November so those will be installed as well as some gravel work around the station and addition of more details. If I get adventuresome, I plan to "kit" a few more T-Trak kits with the birch plywood I picked up last weekend. On the home layout, I have the first Tortoise all but installed. I need to wire it up and work on a good wiring protocol to make future instals easy peasy.

So how about you? What plans do you have on your list this weekend? My advice is to make extra coffee or a proper cup of tea and keep warm by building! We'll come back on Monday the 27th and see how we all did. Until then, have a productive, warm weekend and...

    High Greens!

Freezing rain this morning but 60 degrees today and 70 tomorrow. Train show this weekend and set up today. I'm not leaving until the ice is gone.

We have had our train show in the same location for 10-15 years and this is a new location. It's all new and we are learning as we go. If this one is not too successful then hopefully it will be the basis for better ones in the future.

Cold, cold, cold... -24C this morning (that's -12F for those of you who aren't metric perverts ;)) . If this is global warming, I want my money back!

Indeed, a good excuse to stay inside and work on trains. I'm eyeing one of the two SD40-2 dummies I bought last weekend, considering a CN green and yellow "heritage" paint scheme, just for the fun of it. The other is just going to get a renumbering - it has the same road number as my powered unit.
