Hey everybody, are you ready for the weekend?

Boy I sure am, mentally anyways. Physically, I have a BUNCH of stuff I need to get done before tomorrows gathering. Last spring I started a virtual prototype modeling group, it centers around those who like operations and prototype style modeling. Tomorrow we'll have our Christmas social which means we'll operate on the Galesburg City Job, watch some train videos and of course eat. I managed to get two shifts of switching done and tested on the layout before printing out the switch lists for the operators. It looks like Saturday the 10th of 1966 will be a busy day for the crew! Of course I still need to pick up the shop and get the rest of the house ready for the group including making up some tasty treats for the guys.

Sunday, I will likely take it easy by finishing up any decorating that needs to be done. We are supposed to get a fair amount of snow Sunday so we maybe socked in for the day. Sounds like a perfect excuse to brew up some tea and catch up on some model railroad reading.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll all assemble again on Monday the 12th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

If the internet gods work it right, I'll be participating in my first podcast. Seems I asked an impertinent question on the Model Rail Radio Facebook group, and got a show titled after me (http://modelrailradio.com/).

Since this week has been a whole lot stressful, I think I'll stop by the local hobby shop and buy something. Won't be train related, but it'll be fun. There's a reissue of Starsky's Ford Torino from the show Starsky and Hutch as a 1/25 scale kit. I watched that show as a kid and I really want it.:)

I have an extra long weekend this week. With my daughters birthday and all. So while she is at school today I used the time to build a mountain.[IMG]

    This weekend:
    • More wiring
    • Build and paint a stand for my power supply and 2 command/boosters
    • Build and paint a stand for 4 DS64's that I'll use to control routes within the staging yard
    • Pull and connect the flat RJ12 wire between about 6 or 7 Digitrax UP5's, UR91, and UR92 plug-in points.
    • Clean up the dang train room. Its starting to get messy in there.

This weekend (and possibly next) will be spent getting the FreeMo-N Silicon Valley Station module ready for our next show (@ CalExpo, Sacramento, Jan 7 & 8). At our last show, the switch controls failed (had been using a Team Digital SRC-16 with MotoD daughter board for driving the 4 tortoises). I am going to replace this with 2 NCE Switch-it Mk2s, and simple push-button controls on either side of the modules. Will eliminate a lot of extra wiring and complication.

Still waiting for FA #boards to finish my SP&S FA-1's in the broad stripe scheme, Working on three chip cars...Milw, UP and GN. Finish scribing a 30' caboose and filled all the windows. Plan is to move the cupola 4' forward and make a Rock Is. 30 wood caboose. Not sure if I'm going to do the 5 or 4 window kind. Most challenging build will be the platform that surrounded the cupola...Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!
