Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you had a good week and are now ready to start planning activities for the weekend. Let's get started. Saturday: Typically, this time of year my schedule is largely dictated by the wife. This Saturday is no exception. Saturday morning the wife wants to go and look at a car as our primary wagon has racked up the miles, then there is some kind of Christmas thing in one of the small towns nearby. We also got invited to a "White Elephant" Christmas thing from Angela's friends. I'm not sure what this is but I think it is similar to what we call in New England as a Yankee Exchange. In between all of this I need to get the mower cleaned up and stored for the winter as well as clean the garage. Sunday: If there is to be a day for trains, I hope it is today. Temps will finally be above freezing, and I want to finally stain and add coats of polyurethane to the N scale shadowbox. Before I do that however, I need to cut out the space for the NCE panel. While stain and polyurethane are drying, I hope to accomplish track work on either the N or HO scale layouts. Since its going to be warm, I should also finish the outside light display for Christmas. So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 9th to see how we have done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and remember... DECEMBER 7th & High Greens!
Happy Friday to Y'all, Hope Y'all had a great week. As for me -- no MRRing. At this point no more MRRing for the rest of the year. As we will be preparing for our trip to Austria. Leaving next Friday. returning on the 28th of Dec. Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Happy Friday!!!! No real plans yet for the weekend. There is a lot to do both on and off the layout and workbench. Feeling a tad overwhelmed with stuff to do so it will just be a play it by ear weekend Hope you all have a great weekend!
Tonight I’ll try to do a few household chores before I go to bed. Afterwards, there are a few items that have come out for pre-order so I may do some personal shopping. Saturday I’ll try to knock out my remaining volunteer work and Christmas shopping. Probably put up the tree. After I’ll try to tackle the elevated portion. I’m was mocking things up, but now it’s time to pull the trigger and glue stuff down. Sunday is supposed to have a high of 52, so I’ll decorate outside and try to plant some bulbs for the spring. After I will finish the foam and maybe work on the backdrop. I have a bit of volunteer work to fit in as well, but I can do most of it on the computer so that will be good. Since I don’t have track, my Metra Christmas train will just be a static display this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This weekend will be dedicated to Christmas decorations primarily. The tree is up but will need to be decorated. I don’t know if I will do the outside decorations on Saturday or Sunday. Sunday is supposed to be in the 50’s while Saturday will still be in the 30’s. In between decorating there is laundry and trips to the grocery store and PetSmart and who knows where else. I am hoping to continue building kits and tuning up rolling stock. I also want to run some trains.
Good morning from Cold and Snowy Northeast Ohio! A lot of lake effect snow this week! Not much will be going on modeling wise this weekend. Tonight will be bowling and then the club will be open to guests on Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Strongsville Historical Society. We will also have our Christmas Party with gift exchange on Saturday evening. Then someplace I have to get the laundry done. Rick Jesionowski
@SP-Wolf Safe and pleasant travels and have a great Christmas in Austria! This weekend work in the train room or workshop will be "catch as catch can" so to speak. We are hosting our annual family Christmas get-together again a week from tomorrow. So this weekend will be spent finishing up decorations, assisting the Mrs with her homemade "killer" eggnog, and whatever other honey-do's she comes up with. In-between I will endeavor to stay "out of sight and out of mind" in the train room. We'll see what I did (or more likely what I didn't do) on Monday.
Good morning everyone, My plans for the weekend are similar to @SP-Wolf, only I am going in the other direction to Japan. Leaving on Wednesday and returning in January. Wishing you all a great weekend and holiday season.
Yeah. This freezing weather is a bummer. Alps and trains. What a combo. I try not to feel overwhelmed myself. Yep. Glue time is commitment time is go time! Good luck on the train running. Good luck on "shoehorning" the laundry. Stealth camp in the train room. Another traveler. Last Tuesday, some very small boxes I ordered arrived. This is a successful replacement for my prototype boxcar "pocket box". The old one was too big. The new one fits very well. Both in the pocket and sized for the boxcar. More parts backstock were made. Yesterday I decided to make a new glueing aid as the old one was not well made. I got mad before I got done but I got 'er done. Also, I devised a new way to make side frames. This method is easier, faster and looks better. A triple win for the ol' gmorider. This weekend is cold, but I do have plans to visit an arts and crafts show and the local train club. Otherwise, more parts and maybe a surprise boxcar. I wish all travelers safe and fun journey. Have a great weekend.
Storm Darragh is really starting to hit us now with a Red Weather warning issued for the western side of the U.K Depending on Circumstances if I can get out to the workshop it will be working on Tapton B Board wiring Stood on its edge clamped down to steel trestles with the control panel case bolted on So much easier than trying to solder upside down! Yellow plug is for Baoard A If its too bad I'll work in the office , masking off the trackplan on the control panel top. The Luxite is sat on thin white fabric on the light desk face down. The stiffening rib has been added and all the tracks will be masked off( Mirror image obviously) before the whole of the back is sprayed with whatever colour I decide on. Hope I've got enough 6mm Tamiya masking tape! Kev
Still rearranging stuff in the train room, but plan to finish up the concrete arch bridge and hopefully start on the trestle. I also hope to start on soldering the feeder wire/rail joiner combinations for the Hicksville branch. I probably won't get to everything but I definitely won't run out of stuff to do.
For this weekend the only task on my schedule is assemble two Nexxt Gateways on my PnP and take care of a small bit of rework on three Nexxt Throttles (solder bridges on a couple pins from reflow). Then begins the testing of those against the Prodigy Advance base unit for the PROG track. Very close to wrapping these up for commercial release (estimate of March/April possibly). If I complete all of those successfully I'll be shipping a Throttle and Gateway to kick off the next round of user testing.
I make no promises, but I hope to make progress of some type. I'm liking what I have sketched for one end of my yard so maybe I'll build some turnouts. That said my big push is to have the mainline running by year end, so maybe a plywood run for subroadbed. I really need to get past the benchwork and track so I can get to running trains and other, more fun, aspects of the hobby. We'll see.
Looks like rain here this weekend. I'll probably stay in and decal and detail this second PS 5344 boxcar for the W&NW...I guess I could go Christmas shopping...naahh. Have a great weekend, All! -Bob T.
For the weekend, tackling the connecting rods and main rods on my MDC 2-6-0 kit. Started a bit today, getting the feel of it. Once I have one side done, I can check out the other side to see if the holes align and are properly quartered. Ya never know... One thing's for sure, those plastic pins used to attach the connecting rods to the drivers... a tad too large, or the hole is too small... A little oil does a lot of good for the sliders on the guide rods. I will need to find a way to more solidly attach said rods to the cylinder assembly. They tend to fall out way too easily. Recalcitrant guide rods, meet Epoxy. You and the cylinders will be very attached to each other soon... muahahahahaa... Good move. Christmas shopping is highly overrated. Playing with trains is much, much better!
Too cold to do any outdoor repairwork on the house, hang Christmas decorations or wash my car, so I'll probably do some scenery work on the N Scale. The older I get, the less I am wanting to get on a ladder to work decorations. Our house is only one story, but it still presents unnecessary risk. My wife is younger and more enthused, so has offered.
