Happy Boxing Day! Did you survive this years Christmas and Holiday rush? What's that? You say you have more to go? Oh my! Christmas was very nice this year and I have zero complaints. I received a lot of nice surprises this year. Saturday, I have a small five hour shift but after 2:00, my weekend begins. I plan to finish all the track work on module one then solder all the drops onto the two bus wires underneath and plan to install one of the two Tam Valley switch machines as well. So far, the tests have been going well. Now that I have a job again, I can start work on module two shortly and order up the five turnouts I need for that one. Fortunately module three only has one turnout. I want to have all the track work done some time in January so I can start the construction of buildings, I only have six months now till Galesburg RR Days! So how about you? Anything on the ready board for this weekend? Let us know. We'll all come back here on Monday the 29th to see how we all did. Until then, have a happy, safe and great weekend and... High Greens!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We were skiing for 6 days. It was surprisingly nice, with one day starting with a surprise of several inches of fresh snow. We had two days that were supposed to be heavy rain, but they turned out to be nothing more than a light drizzle, so we skied and found the snow very soft and forgiving, and the lifts completely empty. We're home now, and I hope to get back to a structure I started a month ago before other stuff got in the way. I picked up some Micro Sol for the decals, so it's time to move ahead.
Plans are to (I hope!) continue some scribbling of preliminary plans for a T-Trak module with car float landing.
My Silverado was totaled in an accident two days before Christmas( luckily was only a little banged up) so needless to say my weekend plans( and probably longer) involve a search for a new vehicle and insurance haggling. Needless to say, trains are on the back burner for now. But on a positive note, after a few test drives, I have decided on a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Bob
You know what they say, "Once you go Jeep you never go back". I've driven Jeeps for most of my 35 years of driving. It gets into your blood much like model railroading does. I've had an '04 Wrangler for 5 years and it's by far my favorite ever.
Sad to hear about the Silverado. Glad everyone is OK though. And welcome to the family, I've never not owned at least one Jeep. Maybe see you in Butler for the festival?
I am continuing my rock work on my very mountainous 3 by 8 foot n scale layout. Maybe get some work on my yard as well. Also filming my how to unitrack video part 1 for my YouTube channel.
Sorry about the truck and glad you are okay. Welcome to the family and don't forget to wave! Yes once you get into the Jeep thing, it's hard to get out. Besides Jess my railfan 97 Wrangler seen below, I also have the 98 Cherokee and a 1963 Willys Utility Wagon. In the past I have had CJ's, TJ's, XJ's and even a fancy WK. All have performed great and with the exception of the Toyota I have owned, all were 100% Jim proof.
