Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and to the month of December. Hard to believe there are only a few short weeks of the year left. Looks like most of you had a great Thanksgiving and thanks to some giving people, others who may not have had a holiday, enjoyed a feast delivered to their door. The world needs more of this these days. Let's see what we have planned for this first weekend in December.

Saturday: After enjoying my coffee, I'll be heading up north for a train show I have never been to before. The train show is billing itself as a scale train show so no Thomas and no Lionel according to the show paper. I have a buddy with a table up there and will probably spend some time talking to him as well as scope out some deals on maybe some AccuRail kits or structures. Once done there, I'll need to come home and finish the outside Christmas lights and display while it is warm. At 4:00pm, we are taking the granddaughter to the Bloomington Zoo with her parents. After that, we'll probably head home and relax or try to get the indoors decorated for Christmas.

Sunday: The truck I purchased last weekend will be registered by Friday. I'm taking it up north to my Father-in-laws to give it a good cleaning. The reason my neighbor sold it is that he is now 94 and in the seven years I have lived next door, I only saw him drive it twice. The truck sat for years so now that I have flushed the cooling system and changed the oil and filter, we want to take the cap off and use the pressure washer to remove the mold from inside. The whole truck will be pressure washed and cleaned up and we'll asses a few small maintenance items to make her a good daily driver. After we finish that, we'll probably visit with Grandma and take her out for dinner. Once home, I need to get the new American Flyer Christmas train display built in anticipation for the arrival of the tree in a few weeks. Yes, Christmas is here.

So how about you? What do you have on your list of things to get done this weekend? Any shows this weekend? Let us know. We'll all assemble again on Monday the 4th to see what we have accomplished. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

Friday: Depending on the weather, when I get home from work I will either be putting up outdoor Christmas lights or putting up decorations inside. Laundry. If I have time I will continue organizing and inventorying my collection of unbuilt kits.

Saturday: If I could not do the outside lights on Friday, I will be doing them. Once the lights are done we need to put the outdoor furniture in the garage, which also requires cleaning and organizing the garage. At some point we need to run to the pharmacy, the grocery store, and PetSmart. Laundry. Continue organizing and inventorying the unbuilt kits.

Sunday: If the outdoor furniture did not get done on Saturday, do it now. Put up inside decorations. Laundry. Continue organizing and inventorying the unbuilt kits. Maybe run some trains and/or start on the Ashmore Hotel kit.

We made it to Friday!!!! Like Jim said, hard to believe it's December already. Can't believe how this year has just flown by.

I had planned to knock off a bit early today and go looking for some wood to start making new fascia for the layout with but it's raining here and supposed to the whole weekend. Guess we'll se what happens this afternoon then.

Saturday will be up and hitting the coffee and layout first. Since probably no work on the fascia, I'll set some trains running and see what I can get into on the workbench. We finished all our inside Christmas decorating this week and had planned to do the outside lights Saturday afternoon. If we get a break in the rain, we may run out and get that done. If mot, maybe extra time at the workbench. :D

Sunday will all depend on how Saturday goes. Also throw in some errands and laundry and that will fill out the last of the weekend.

Hope you all have a safe and great weekend!

This week, at least part of it, is predictable. I have a ten page (minimum) paper due on Saturday. I've been working on it most of the week.

Once that's turned in, I'm sure there's some overdue "honey-do" stuff that needs to be done. And Sunday will be church (not preaching) and the monthly business meeting of the Sebring Model Railroad Club.

Happy Friday all. Will be a busy weekend here, but fortunately that includes some modeling as well. Next weekend is the family Christmas re-union held at our house each year. I have been trying to get some new scenery things done, those will come to a close this weekend (in whatever state they are) and I will move on to cleaning the track, getting a few engines ready by cleaning wheels, checking things out. Plus making up a few trains. Folks are gonna wander up the train room so I want it running well.

Also this weekend will finish the last decorating chores. Mostly outdoors today since tomorrow it will rain here. Then I have a few indoor things to finish up, but indoor decorating here is mostly done now. Also, I will help the Mrs w/ a few cooking things she is prepping for next weekend. Of course tomorrow I'll have college football championship games and college basketball on the T.V. going in the background so I can sneek-a-peek at who's doing what as I pass by.

Have a great weekend all! Enjoy it! God bless the Christmas season!

Busy weekend for sure, today I have to finish packing and wrapping the cars I built for the club Christmas gift exchange and I hope to start work on some new kits and do some painting on already finished kits. But tonight is bowling and I hope the team continues the good bowling we had last week.

Saturday, the Strongsville, OH club layout will be open along with the Historical Society for the annual Christmas Show, also we have our club banquet and gift exchange in the evening. The gift exchange is set up so gifts can be rearranged back and forth during the evening due to a convaluted set of rules.

Sunday, same with the Christmas show during the day along with getting some laundry done before and after the show hours 1-5.

    Have a great weekend!

Good morning everyone and welcome to December.

My attempt to fix the furnace myself did not work out but I was able to find what seems like a good place and they were able to get it going by Thursday with a new controller unit $$. The capacitor I bought was only $12 and now I'll have a spare. With the heater from the train room being used in the house I was not able to use the train room for 5 days. I did bring boxes of rolling stock that I want to take to next weekend's train show into the house to clean wheels and check couplers.

This weekend I'll continue with handrail painting on the locos I recently acquired and work on getting everything organized for next weekend's train show.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Yep. It is Christmas time once again! The Ashmore = hotel anticipation. (y) Here's to oil change persistence. (Get your holiday used car now.) Extra time on the workbench is a worthy goal. ;) Predictability can be a good thing. :cautious: Family Christmas reunion and running trains! Does it get any better? :)New kits and painting finished ones. Train show prep = high anticipation. There seems to be a laundry theme on the thread. Maybe include laundering tips? Good progress this past week. :) There was some interference with chores. o_O What ya' gonna' do? I have two cars that need end walls. The last set of windows is awaiting installation as well. Then end walls with diaphragms. Then work on the roofs. (y) Have a great Christmas season weekend. :D

Greetings from a warmish day in McLean, VA.
Friday through Monday: Run Trains, (in the evenings) and take Walks any time.
Friday into Saturday: My queen/wife will will be helping with paint mixing for the layout. We bought a cheap measuring cup and a lot of 2oz paper cups. I'll learn the ratios of various colors and be able to do it myself even though it may not really look right to me.
Once I get the right colors I'll be putting a 'Darkish Tan' on the edges of the track so I can see it. Right now it blends with the dark base I put down.
Saturday into Sunday: Will finish the 'highlighting' of track and resume building and painting mountains.

    Enjoy the weekend!

I took today and Monday off. I’ve used today to get caught up on a lot of chores-holiday and otherwise: I got my laptop fixed up so I can work from home if required, did some Xmas shopping and gift wrapping, moved some Xmas lights in the front yard, Im currently working on laundry, and bought some plane tickets for a family trip coming up.

Saturday or Sunday I’ve got to type up some meeting notes for our neighborhood citizens association and fit in some online Xmas shopping for my side and my wife’s side of the family. In between that I’m going to try to head down to the train room and get organized-I keep going around in circles on my track plan…and I don’t mean running trains, haha!

Monday is my oldest daughter’s birthday, which is why I took it off. Originally I planned to take her to a book store for a surprise shopping spree (she loves to read) but I got a last minute invitation to go to the White House for a holiday tour, so she and I will do that in the morning, skip school, and if the timing works out go, to the Air and Space Museum, and then head to the book store for the shopping spree before cookie cake and presents at home.

Been out all week to DC, but while I was out a number of cars and structure kits arrived for projects over the holidays. I am hoping to get a few days off and enjoy some modeling.

I'll dig into some of these this weekend to get base coats of weathering going, and patch out stencils for the 1980s.

    Tangent-Freelance-Cars.jpg

I have about a half-dozen of these Home Shops / Three Notch cars to weather for the freelance (alternate history) Wichita & Northwestern. I also had a tree removed on Monday, making room for the shed foundation expansion to start the new out-building for some model trains (if all goes to plan). Over the holidays (no report last week -- sick), I updated the plan to more closely match the space.

    WNW-shed-rev2.jpg

There will also be a lower level to host a down-sized version of the 1920s Crawford & Cherokee project.

    Have a good one All,

    -Bob T.
