Looks like we all survived the Great Eclipse. Where I was in Central Illinois, we saw about 90% totality. It was cool, certainly brought out some Pink Floyd songs playing in my mind. Now we are about to start another weekend, let's see what we all have planned. Since Jess my Jeep was originally purchased as my railfan vehicle, I consider any activity I do with her to be part of my Weekend Modeling Plans. With that said, Jess got a package yesterday that will make it easier to remove her hardtop and store it without asking the neighbors to help out. It's a hoist specifically for Jeep Hardtops, so I'll be working on that project in the garage as well as other Jeep related projects. Sunday, I hope to continue my search for a prototype on the B&M or Maine Central that will allow me to model a small industrial area in 2-feet by 8-feet. I'm also leaning towards to keeping the two modules to FreeMo N standards. Whatever track plan I choose, I need to figure out modules that will easily fit in Jess as renting vehicles or buying another wagon are not in the realms of possibilities. Time and planning will tell as I take this wide vision look at my next layout. So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend? Let us know! We'll all come back on Monday the 28th to check in and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
I got a glimpse of the City job in Omaha a few months ago. They would fit in with Free-moN very nicely! My weekend plans include unpacking my first airbrush and sitting down to finally tame my painting abilities.
Need to make some more progress to this corner this weekend. Mountainous corner with water features in some fashion. Waiting on the water products should have tomorrow.
Looks like another busy summer weekend. So, I'm not sure how much if any MRRing I'll get in. I'll report on Monday. Hope Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Hopefully extending some more plywood to continue the main line. I am anxious to get the mainline done so I can "continuously" run trains. The out/back stuff is getting old. Continued work on some buildings I've taken out of storage and found a home for on the layout, maybe some wiring. Last weekend before college football starts, so I really want to get something meaningful done.
Believe it or not Eugen, I was thinking of you yesterday at work. I am a locomotive supervisor and I had a crew load testing a GE outside the shop. I thought I wish there was a way I could get a good sound recording of the locomotive at full load sitting still. That would be pretty cool to have playing at your facility !! Randy Stahl
Like everyone else I hope to get some MRR'ing done. Saturday is a whale watching tour but Sunday and Monday should be mine. As long as it's not too hot I hope to finish installing backdrops on the layout and working some more scenery. Football season also means my layout slows down too, I think there are only two days a week without football these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back to the meat-and-potatoes of layout building. I cleaned up on and around the layout (made room for the workers), around the apartment, put up all the blinds again, and started by cutting the rails to isolate sections of track corresponding to the switches on my control boxes. Then I took the wires I prepared a couple of weeks ago and connected them to the control boxes. In the plans for the weekend: - Connect the power packs to the control boxes and test the entire setup with a handy test lamp - a searchlight car! - Head over to a second LHS to check out their stock of scenery materials and other things. It's good to have a second source of items in case of supply problems. Also my last visit to my primary LHS left me a bit disappointed . Added bonus: the new place is about half the distance away and *not* in Montreal. Longer term plans include ballasting and covering up all that styrofoam base with some actual scenery and buildings (maybe add a teensy bit of topography here and there). Hopefully I can find a big dirty factory to put beside one of my industrial tracks. Main potential obstacle to progress this weekend: cool, bright and sunny weather with no prospect of rain (an unfamiliar concept this year...).

Hi Randy that would be a great idea to show the Layout on a show here in Europ wit the originas sound bihinde
Going though boxes of freight cars, locomotives and structures to sort out what I need and what will be going up for sale. Once that is done I'd like to run some feeders to get my layout powered up since I didn't get that done last weekend.
Been trying to work out some kinks on my 3D printer so I can continue my N Scale WPA Bridge project. I have most of the parts designed, now just fine tuning them for quality and fit. Love these old bridges: Cheers -Mike
That is an excellent scene and work. Little things make the best scenes. The little thing I see is the weathering on those 2 covered hoppers. They take some great work and make the picture "pop". Nice.
