Welcome back everyone. Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes for my dad as he recovers from surgery. There is some hope that the hospital will release him this weekend. I hope you had a great week and are now ready to discus your plans for all things model railroad this weekend. Let's get started.

Friday: Will be a busy day as we put up all the Athearn announcements and I'll go live today to go over the products. After work, I may check out a local car show and may even get to participate.

Saturday: I'm hopping that I receive word from the hospital that dad is cleared to come home. If that is the case, that will be my primary focus. This will keep me busy as the hospital is over an hour away one way. Any other time may be spent exploring what else CSX is doing to the former Pan Am / Guilford / B&M property.

Sunday: I really need to get Grandpa's F-150 started and moved to the garage so I can order parts so it can be inspected here in NH. I'll have to do some laundry as was as well as possibly mow. Any time after that will be left for exploring railroad property.

So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 14th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

    Happy Friday all!
@Jim Wiggin continuing to pray for your dads recovery! Will be on the lookout the live stream later to see what's new.

Hopping to knock off a little early today. Need to get a jump on some of the normal weekend chores.
Saturday morning should allow for a couple of hours in the train room. The usual brew up some coffee, turn on a rr dvd or you tube live cam or both, and set some trains to run. I really don't feel like doing any wiring work so I think I will start on a pile load for a gondola. The afternoon will be spent helping my son do a last check to make sure he has everything for his dorm room and then start packing it in the wife's suv.
Sunday is move in day at the dorm and we fully expect that to consume the entire day. Should be interesting!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

This evening I’ll probably just relax and watch some TV. Saturday and Sunday I have a bunch of chores to do-some yard work, some hanging up of pictures in the new house, putting up curtains and replacing a towel rack, and hopefully an oil change and trailer maintenance on the boat.

I’m going to try and find some time in there to work on my track plan and put down the foam board on the little bit of shelf I’ve already got on the wall. Even if the track plan isn’t finished yet, I know I need to put the foam board down eventually!

Friday shout out to all! This weekend the goal is to start plastering the new mountain structure. There are other things I'd like to get done in the workshop and train room. So this weekend will probably turn out to be an assorted "thissa and thatta" of model railroad chores. This is all a fancy way of saying I have no clue what I'll get done.

@Jim Wiggin - here's to Dad returning home, our thoughts are with you. Have a great, peaceful weekend all!

@Jim Wiggin wishing your father a speedy recovery.

My plans for the weekend involve fine tuning and reprinting a throttle enclosure and assembling a throttle for testing. In between that work I'm working on reorganizing my office to complete the last bit of tear down of the old layout (pulling up glued down cork from ~6ft section of the old yard left to do). After that is complete I plan on starting some design work for a new modular layout that will be traveling to Long Beach in 2024 for the NMRA National Show as a demo layout for the projects I've been working on for the last few months (most of which will be on the market in the spring!)

@Jim Wiggin continued prayers for your father’s recovery.

Friday. Get home from work, do my weekly payroll stuff so I can get paid, dinner, and shower. Discuss our weekend plans.

Saturday. My wife and I will probably go a drive of some sorts if the weather is nice. We both have not been out to do anything fun in a few months. I have been too exhausted from work, and she has been under the weather.

Sunday. I will have to do some shopping and perhaps a few small chores around the house including the dreaded laundry (but then again doing the laundry gives me a excuse to be in the basement and near the layout. It just means it might take a little longer than usual to load that washer.)

Speaking of the layout I would like to glue down one of the curves on the layout and begin wiring the east side of the layout. I have noticed some power issues on that side of the layout. Currently there are no drop feeders. I need to install them and wire them into the system. I still need to speed match the Bowser Alco Centuries. Maybe then I can run some trains.

Good morning everyone. Keeping my fingers crossed that Jim's dad gets to come home from the hospital this weekend.

This weekend will mostly be getting things ready for an upcoming RV trip. What time I do get in the train room will be used working on the control system for a friend's staging yards. Although doing the electronics work, I now tend to burn out after a bit either because I need to think through a problem or because my eyes get tired. When that happens, I run my trains. But I still get a bit done almost every day.

Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable weekend whatever you are doing.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

Jim Wiggin, hope your father gets out this weekend, after six days from my heart surgery I was ready to go home and at least get a good meal.

Friday, will be working on finishing another Tichy coal hopper kit along with a simple Bowser H21a PRR coal hopper. I also need to paint some trailers and car roofs silver. But, tonight is our first night of bowling, I am hoping my improved bowling during the summer continues on but on a different lane condition. My oldest son is moving into his new townhome in Denver today.

Saturday, no club as a number of the members are heading to Summer Rail in Marion, OH. We will be going out to dinner with my son and his wife after inspecting their new fence and patio. May get some decaling done if I have time.

Sunday, laundry day along with some kit building and decaling along with whatever other projects need completing.

Well, my original plan was to try to finish a draft of my twenty page paper that was due last Monday but... stuff happens.

Last Monday, my brother said that our Mom was running a fever and the care center was giving her something for it but asked me if I would look in on her on Tuesday. Of course, I said I would. But Tuesday morning I awoke to a text message that Mom had passed quietly late on Monday after I had gone to bed. So, although I had weekend plans to work on my paper and volunteer at our church booth selling steak burgers at the Alliance Carnation Festival, now I'm cleaning the house in preparation of our son and daughter-in-law's arrive this evening for Mom's calling hours on Monday and funeral on Tuesday.

So, Thursday, I came home early from work to clean my bathroom and run the carpet cleaner in the second floor.

Friday, we are cleaning and tidying the main floor and vacuuming. I also have hopes of still getting some writing done this weekend. Our professor has given me extra time, but the week after the official due date is the beginning of the next semester so, extra time or not, I want to get this done so I'm not trying to do two things at once. This evening we'll drive to the Akron/Canton airport to pick up our kids.

Saturday morning is the grand parade for the Carnation Festival and after the parade, is a giant rush of people who find their way to the park in search of lunch (and most of the fair food you love). So, I hope to volunteer for a few hours at our church booth during the rush. Other than that, I will have to play things by ear. We may do some family stuff or I may get some time to work on my paper. Dinner may be a family picnic at our other son's house.

Sunday, will be church and... maybe... an hour or two at the Sebring Model Railroad Club just because there are a couple members that need to catch up on dues.

Monday evening is Mom's calling hours

    Tuesday
is the funeral and interment, with Dad, at the Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Fingers crossed for hospital release. (y) Ah, moving. :cautious: Foam board setting up! Mountain rising! ;) F7 in process. Spring product release! :) Here's to "run some trains"! :) Me get things done a little at a time as well. Hoppers! Maybe we need a laundry counter offensive? Well, we have cabs done and all three mounted to boilers. The American is on the frame as well. :) Now mounting of boiler and cab combo on frames. Working slowly. Helping daughter move tomorrow. Maybe follow up that on Sunday. Then back to locos. Have a cool, safe, fun weekend. :D @Pastor John, I saw this after I posted. I very sorry for your loss. Your mother was blessed to transition peacefully. My sympathy to you, your family and friends.

@Jim Wiggin - I'm praying that your Dad will be well enough for the hospital to let him go. And that he recovers quickly and stronger.

@Pastor John - My deepest condolences and sympathies on your Mom's passing.

I'll try to finish the three-car MOW kits from Roundhouse. Had a little mixup when I touched up some clear matte on two of them - I grabbed the spray adhesive instead...  . Waited for a bit, and tested the clear matte and nothing bad happened. No melting, catching fire or exploding...

The glazing is installed in the all the windows and not much is left to do, basically final assembly.

I was scratching my head about how to identify each one as either tool car, bunk car or mess car. Then it hit me... signs! :)

I drew up six small signs (1 each side of each car) in Corel Draw and printed them out. After applying them to a piece of 0.005" styrene sheet with spray adhesive (that's when the mixup countdown clock started :cautious: ), I cut them up into individual signs and glued them to the cars, one to each side. I did them in green with yellow lettering, old-time CN-style. Nice!!! (y)

Going to run some trains after that, and for any other train-related activity, let the chips fall where they may. ;)

@Pastor John - My condolences on the loss of your mom.

@Jim Wiggin - Hoping your dad can be back in his home soon.

Spent today putting a board under a small bandsaw to make it easily portable. Didn't seem like that big of a chore, but one compromise led to another and another and a trip to the hardware store and... Finally got it done.

Saturday: Need a trip to the grocery store and a gift store for my wife's aunt. Then I am testing the Honda for watertight seals around the trunk. If the trunk stays dry, I can put the spare, jack and liners back in. The apple trees need thinning. Barely got any apples last year. This year? Already had one limb break under the weight with more looking likely. I am hoping to test the new lighting modules I received from Lowell Smith. That will probably be the extent of my model railroading activities.

Sunday: The European soccer season gets going for me on Sunday. After the match we will attend the birthday party for Sharon's aunt. Not sure what we will be doing in the gaps around those activities.

    Stay safe,
