Welcome back to the Gateway to the weekend! Spring finally feels like it has arrived here in east central Illinois so maybe I can work on stuff outside! We'll see. Let's get started.

Saturday: I have to get things ready for the out-of-town family's arrival so that means a few things must be accomplished. First task will be to perform a deep clean of the family Wagon. It's a Dodge Journey and yes, I know it is technically a "Cross-over" but under all the marketing hype, it's a station wagon. Inside and out will be cleaned as well as a good wax job so it can look its best while fulfilling its primary task. Next is the lawn after I finish repairs and place the deck back on my vintage John Deere. If I can accomplish all of that on Saturday, I'll be doing good.

Sunday: The return of the Decatur spring model railroad show! I'm not displaying this year since so much is going on these next few weeks, but I plan to stop by and harass, I mean, visit some old friends. After that I will probably help Ang with cleaning the house before heading over to her dads. I'll need to clean and detail the Mustang after her winter slumber as she has an important role next weekend. Other than the show, probably not much in the way of model trains.

So how about you? What do you have on your model railroad agenda? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 25th to see how well we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio!

Friday, well today I go see the Cardiologist for the Mitral Valve problem and then in the evening I have a Cleveland Bowling Association Board meeting to attend.

Saturday, going to the club for general cleaning and track cleaning as we are hosting a Division 4 layout visit tour on May 1st., after I get home will continue work on the Lot 974B NYC 50' boxcar that I am kit bashing along with decaling a couple of other cars.

Sunday, is laundry and I hope to paint a couple of cars and continue decaling and the kit bashing project. I should get my modified GP35 frame so I can add Alco trucks and complete an Ann Arbor GP35.

Driving home from the Texas Hill Country where my wife and I have spent a few days hiking and wine tasting. Staying at a B&B in Hye, Texas across the road from the old LBJ Ranch.

I need to get back to painting a Microtrains RPO Baggage car for my MKT heavyweight train.

    Friday already?!

Friday: Shopping with Mrs Moose, then watch Mrs Moose re-paint parts of the layout (recently painted by Moose :().

Saturday: Perhaps start making some trees for the trestle area with Mrs Moose's expert assistance. :) ... and then "go do something fun" with Mrs Moose... o_O

Sunday: Slap some decals on a not-gonna-spend-a-year-trying-to-modify-this-to-make-it-look-like-an-Northern-Pacific-prototype-only-to-commit-an-epic-fail locomotive for the MT&P railway.

Wish I could do many of those things but, they're not allowed. So, I'll be clearing my work bench of the electrical gear and dream of a future layout if possible.
    Have a nice weekend ya'll.

Simple task on the layout this weekend. I will be ballasting the track on 8 foot Carlin section which includes the 4 track yard. I know many don't like ballasting but with a train running around the layout and either a Giants game or some music on the radio I'll be content.

Wishing you all a great weekend whatever you end up doing.

    Happy Weekend all.
This weekend will probably have some office work to do, but should still get to some modeling.

Not sure what yet. There are 3 things stirring around in the back of mind, hopefully, I can get to one or 2 of them.
    • Decal an RSD 11/12 engine
    • More work on the bridges that will connect the layout to the Albemarle City Extension
    • Possibly getting outdoors and having a "puff ball" tree making party so I can start filling in a few hill/mountain scenes.
    Enjoy the weekend.

Good stuff slated by the above folks. (y) Just earlier, I installed the first parts for the end frames. The initial results look promising so far. ;) The cross beams need to be done. This is the first car of ten. I will be outdoors some or a lot Saturday. :D Too much sunshine to waste. Everyone have fun and be safe. :)

Try to get this project off of my work bench. Project ADHD keeps pushing this off and it needs done and gone! Doing a set of flatbeds loaded with Allis Chalmers stuff for a friend. I built the offset disk and the unfinished tractor (1975 AC 7060) from odds and ends in my junk box and a busted toy of my sons. The AC 175 (Also 1975 model) was done from a junk Athearn IH 756. The build isn't going as planned but he is happy so far with the work. Fortunately, he isn't a tractor guy so the subtle imperfections on the tractors aren't an issue.

Got a morning going on that feels like Spring! Sunshine, rabbits cavorting in the yard and one apple tree breaking out the blooms. Sharon is off having an adventure with her mother for a few days. I am taking advantage of that by using the kitchen counter as a staging area. Not for trains, but the garage shelving shuffle I am undertaking. If successful I will be bringing my paint booth back online after four years in storage.

Friday: Need to have a tire problem dealt with. Fingers crossed it gets fixed. Build and move around stuff as needed.

Saturday: Retrieve my paint booth from storage. Shop for suitable fan(s) and duct work. Got some soccer to watch in the evening.

Sunday: Start with more soccer. Resolve any issues with power and airflow. Perhaps spray a little test paint. If I make enough progress on the above, I will treat myself to BBQ. Maybe I will console myself with BBQ.

There are probably several side trips this little adventure will require. We will see.

    Stay safe,

Not certain this weekend. There is a swap meet, which is a four hundred mile round trip, going the shortest route. But snow is in the forecast for the mountain pass that roadway crosses, and it is a bit isolated, if you have a problem. There is a slightly longer, better drive route, but that is just over 225 miles one way. And near Montana Rail Link. Maybe I'll just stay home.... Save my money and use it on some model RRing fun....?

I might actually try to assemble one of my 15 or so Design Preservation Models Saturday. I just finished spraying it brick red today.

Spraying the DPM kit was so easy, I might do a couple more today. I wonder what the odds are that I could build them all tomorrow?

    Hmm... I would say the
    odds are less than zero...

    Update...

Friday: Emergency computer file storage transfer!

Moose's laptop is on da fritz -- again. 2-year old replacement hard drive is growling something fearce! Moose in emergency mode trying to back up all da train-related files to another drive before all becomes lost.

Moose recently backed up those pesky "important" non-train related files a few weeks ago, but not the train files because this computer was to become the dedicated all things trainy computer whilst a new 'puter took over for everything else...

Moose'll pick up a read-writable blu-ray disk or two later today as a better back up tool for train-related items.

There's a lot more to this story, but Moose no wanna bore anyone... :)

No model trains this weekend. It’s already Saturday morning here in Japan and we’re at Universal Studios in Osaka. I did some railfanning on the way down and I’ll do a bit a more on the way back.

And maybe some at the Harry Potter part of the park?

    Hey All,

Planning to work on this pair of Bitter Creek Kits for 34 and 36-ft boxcars while watching NMRA-x tomorrow. These are great kits and create a nice TOC boxcar model.

Here is the last one I built:

    StLG-sm.JPG

These will be Iron Mountain and Mobile, Jackson, and Kansas City (MJ&KC) examples.

Hope you have a good one,

Continue fiddling with the Just Plug lights, to get them all working and tidy up those tiny pesky wires too. Think I might cut a piece of a coffee stirrer to stuff those tiny ones in to keep them apart from each other. Otherwise they tend to wind up in knots, which is NOT good. Touch up my fake Blue paint water, and the future rock face behind it, cause painting the Pink stuff light brown it looks even worse then the Pink, if that is possible? Gonna try and add some mock up stone, not sure if it will work or not?

As always, run some trains and play :)
