Can you believe it? It's finally April! I'm excited this morning because I hate winter and with April means spring, warmer weather, longer daylight days, railfaning and of course, SHOWS!

In other news, I did the unthinkable last night. After years of working and slaving I drove both my Jeeps, Cherokee and Jess my Wrangler to a local GM dealership for their "Push, pull or drag sale" and traded both Jeeps in for a nice new Chevrolet Cobalt. It came with a nice white body, with gray interior and will do great in the coming months. I'm pretty excited about it!

This weekend is going to be busy as myself and a friend are starting the weekend in the show season. The Lincoln Square Mall Train Show in Urbana is one of the longest running train shows in Illinois and my half and my buddies half of the Galesburg City Job layout will be there. I was hoping to have more done on my modules by now but a friends project kept me busy.

These 2-rail O scale boxcars were a B-I-G project and literally took over the shop, so while working on them, work on my modules went to a steady snails pace. Still, I was able to get all the road, parking lot and concrete down for module 1.

Here you can see, I have painted the concrete area of Butler Building and Henderson has received a coat of Tru-Color concrete. The white un-painted road is Forth Street and at the time of this writing has received a coat of aged concrete. One section is asphalt, and it is near the upper parking area. Grimy Black has been applied now too but I will not have time to do much else at this point. My buddy arrives sometime tonight so after getting last minute groceries after work and picking up the house, we'll load all the modules into his trailer since the Cobalt is too small for modules. So if your in the Champaign/Urbana area this weekend, stop by the Lincoln Square Mall (Admission is free) and stop in and say hi! Also, my club, the NSBN is hosting Trains In The Heartland at Heartland College in Normal Illinois. There are a a lot of great layouts there this weekend from T-Trak to Free-Mo and G. No vendors but plenty to see and some great guest speakers. Overall a busy weekend for train guys like us.

For my buddy and I, we'll set up Saturday, run trains and do a bit of railfaning after the show before watching some new train videos I picked up at the Springfield Massachusetts show. Hmm, me thinks some hot wings and a brew is in order here. All in all, a very busy but hopefully relaxing weekend.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Train shows? Club open houses? Lets hope the yard work is limited to the model rail yards! Whatever you find yourself doing this weekend, have fun, stay safe and...

    Oh and one more thing...

Hoping to see some pictures from all of those activities you've listed!

This room is a mess! Right now am trying to get some boxes moved, so I can access my work bench again! Then? We shall see.... :)

Not sure how much train time I'll get these next couple of weeks. (In fact - all of April). But , this weekend I hope to continue working on my switch complex. Getting the new parking lots done. We'll see.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

I'm hoping to get back to work on my feed mill. The weather was not very cooperative for spraying outside, but that is supposed to change this weekend.

More benchwork. Supposed to be clear in our area on Sunday. The Mrs. informs me I will be amending the soil in our herb garden on Sunday. Whatever I want to get done on benchwork will be limited to tomorrow!
