The last weekend of 2012 is here and with it comes our last chance of the year to get some work done for our favorite hobby.

With Christmas out of the way, I have big plans for this weekend. The biggest news for my layout and office area is a move. Since moving back home from New Jersey last Spring, my home office, N scale layout, work bench, spray booth and everything else has been in a converted front porch. While nice, it has had its draw backs. Namely, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It is also the main freeway between the outside and the house so keeping the room clean and quiet is all but impossiable. With the oldest moving out a few months back, my girlfriend felt it best we convert the old bedroom into my home office. More room, quiet and better temps are on the way. Hopefully the move will happen this weekend, but since there is a lot of prep work and cleaning from Christmas, I may have to wait another week. My not so local hobby shop called me on Monday to let me know my order of paint had come in, so a trip up north maybe in order as I have started planning two locomotive projects in N that I want done for the coming year. Finally, this maybe the weekend the siding gets planted on the layout. Funny how something that should only take 20 minutes has stretched to over a month. It almost seemed like every time I touched it, there was a call to go somewhere, or a "honey do" of some sort that put the whole project on hold. I have been told that this weekend that will not happen. We'll see.

So how about you? Will you have a chance to relax from the weeks merriment with some model railroading? Track work, scenery, layout or club modules? Whatever you have planned, let us know, with pictures if you have them. We'll all come back again on Monday the 30th and check out each others work. Until then, work happy and safe and...

    High Greens!

I didn't get anything model railroading - related for Christmas, so no new projects. Wife and I spent two extra days at her parents house due to heavy snowfall and bad road conditions. Wasn't going to take chances in a new truck, road was still bad when we get home yesterday.

No actual plans, I'll figure something out when I get in the layout room. Still have track work and scenery to do.

I couldn't get up to my club Wednesday evening due to the storm. I'm going up there today and possibly tomorrow to get some track work done on a module for a show next weekend. Hope to do somemore work on my latest T-Trak module.

I've had a bit of time here and there this week. I'd picked up a couple of boxcar kits at a show last month, and I've been slowly working on them along with the carfloat apron. Both projects got some attention this week, and the boxcars are now sitting on my layout.

Daughter Annie and her new boyfriend are occupying the train room right now. It's always been the "Train Room" by name, but it came out nicer than we'd planned so it's also the family room, with the big TV. That's an advantage when I want to ballast and watch football at the same time, but when the video selection is teen angst or vampires-in-the-high-school, I do get displaced occasionally.

So, this may be the day to actually start assembling the carfloat itself, since the final fit of the apron will depend on having all the components together.
