The days are getting shorter and colder, leaves change color and fall, and suddenly a hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick has replaced our iced tea as we get ready for Weekend Modeling Plans. For the first time in a while, I have a Saturday with no soccer games and no domestic obligations, at least right now. With Sunday being filled with soccer games, I hope to get a few things accomplished. I have one last model airplane project to finish before attending the last big R/C airplane meet next weekend. After next weekend, I transition back into N scale and get ready for Milwaukee Trainfest. I picked up something last weekend at the Hard Rock Cafe that will be perfect for my T-Trak module, specifically Rick's Place. The next few weekends will be busy with shows, so with all the driving time, I'll have plenty of time to think about the changes I need to work in on my N scale layout. So how about you? Do you plan to do more than a bit of "Zen" modeling and commit to some actual work on the modules or layout? How about some diesel detailing and decals? Any scenery work? How many are getting ready for open house and show season? Whatever your plans may be, let us know, with pictures if you have them. We'll all get together again on Monday the 29th and see how we did. Until then, have a safe and productive weekend and... High Greens!
Well, with luck, the decals will be at the LHS so I can get those diesels detailed. I'll also be stopping by Radio $hack to get some components for lighting a couple of cabeese. Since I'll only get 2 wheels on either side for power pickup, I'm going to add a diode bridge and a capacitor, along with a resistor to step down the voltage for the Tomar Adlake lamps, which like 1.5 volts. Hopefully, the flicker shouldn't be too evident. I did get my bunch of unpainted Life-Like figures. They're not Preiser quality, but they're better than expected and some of them will sit and stand in those cabeese. Since the weather will be deteriorating, I may do a pre-emptive strike and spray-paint the brick walls for all the Empire Tanning Company structures. There are 4 or 5 of them, so it will take a while to mortar all the bricks, put together a few interiors and glue on the windows. That's all indoor stuff, so once I get the walls painted, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
I already finished by backdrop last night, so that is out of the way. I ordered the Walthers "Parkview Terrance" background kit that was on clearance as well as Kadee #150's. I selected my best 20 cars and 5 engines for those to go onto first, the existing Kadee #5's will replace mechenry's, accumates and cheap imitations on other rolling stock. This should make my entire railroad entirely KD..... although I'm still considering going to Sergent Engineering way in the future. Aside from rolling stock maintenance I don't see a whole lot else happening this weekend.
have a ton of projects to do, but with the forecast tracks for Hurricane Sandy settling right over my house (literally!) I may need to spend some time securing kids toys and lawn chairs. If we do get stuck at home from the storm, I can keep modeling as long as the power stays on - once that goes the sump pump may fail which would be a challenge in a heavy storm situation.
Not much modeling this weekend. Taking in some fall colors and doing some hiking. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk 2
I'll be changing out 200 wheelsets I recieved from my not-so-lhs. 2 100 count bulk packs of Intermountain 33". Terry in NW Wisconsin
I'm going to try to get some more work done on the T-Trak module i've been working on so it will be ready for a show next weekend in Port Jervis NY. More important work is to get my house ready for the upcoming storm Monday.
My "plans" never seem to work out, but I hope to experiment with some gouache for weathering. That's the short list.
