Another week is almost done, betcha thinking about model railroad projects, I know I am. Unfortunately, that maybe all I am doing again this weekend. Next weekend a friend is coming down to my work shop as we start construction of a modular project for next years Galesburg RR Days. Yes it will be N scale. Yes it will be CB&Q themed. It will be a fun project, but that is next weekend. I will be working on the initial design concept so we can maximize our efforts next weekend. Other than that, work will once again take priority so no real train work this weekend. So how about you? What ideas are you running through your head? Let us know! We'll be back on Monday the 21st to see how we all did. Until then, have a great and safe weekend and... High Greens!
I took a couple of days off this week to be sick. But, I did some light-duty modeling, and made a bit of progress on the tannery. I made up one more sheet of Hydrocal for the pavement around the tannery buildings, so I should have enough, and if not, I've got more Hydrocal. These buildings are all Walthers "modulars," so the interiors of the buildings are elevated about 1/2 inch off the base level, and will need floors, which I'll make with foamboard and then cover with computer-printed wood planks, mostly, or just paint them gray where they won't be terribly visible.
Continuing to assemble a structure (HO laser) kit. Starting work on an HOn30 caboose kit. Paint fencing to install on an N scale T-Trak module.
Continuing to build my logging structures. I need to start painting the fascia. Also need to fill the gaps between the foam/bench work and fascia with spackle. Will also start to work on mountain and mine area. Since I got a Grid drawn for transferring the track plan I can now work on the mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
This is the weekend Bear Valley Model Railroaders is having a self-guided layout tour/open house and I think the layout and room are ready after chasing away the railroad gremlins that seem to show only when guests come. There will be 9 layouts (including mine) open, so we're looking forward to it! I'l probably work on the lighting and interiors of some passenger cars between guests. John
I'm going to finish up my CN SW1200RS and on Sunday I will attend an Ottawa model train flea market to get my train fix - and find some more stuff to paint, detail, kitbash or otherwise mangle. Every time I've been there, I always found something interesting. In fact, that was where I bought my first locomotive after getting back into the hobby.
